Here's the story behind it.
Apparently, my great-granda worked a boat on the mississippi. He didn't have kids till his mid-forties, i'm assuming, cause my great-granda died at 93, and granda was around 46 years old at that time. Well, since my dad, who was close with great-granda, hadn't seen him before he passed, my granda, decided to teach him to fight with a knife, which became kind of a legacy for our family. My dad taught me, my two brothers and our sister, starting us out with training blades. Once we learned everything he could teach us, which took three years, he bought us each our first knife. Once my son reaches the age of twelve, he'll start his training, as will my daughter.
