What is your favorite game?

grandia II's battle system is the best battle system of any rpg i've ever played. it was actually -GASP- ........FFF-F-F--FF-UN!

anyway my favorite game is ... ah, jesus. decisions.

Tie between Sonic the Hedgehog 2, Pharaoh, Sims 2, Half Life 2, Yoshi's Island (1), and The NEW Super Mario Bros. on the DS.

Runner ups: The Soul Reaver Series, the Chrono games, FF9, pretty much ANY Mario or 2D Sonic game, the Silent Hill series, most Zeldas (esp. Link to the Past), most Metroids ... Ah, I could go on forever @_@

Actually, my favorite game right now is Metal Gear Solid 4.
Great story, game play, graphics, tons of easter eggs and it's just damn fun.

this. it's the ONLY JRPG that i have played for more than like 5 minutes and this is largely because i liked the battle system. the story and characters are horrible (MAREG THE NEGROBEAST MAN) but it had ACTUAL GAMEPLAY which is rare in games

The story was cookiecutter/predictable, and the character archetypes were WAY too apparent. But it's the only jRPG I've ever played where I (me! someone who DESPISES rpg battles) was actively hunting enemies to fight, and spending time picking out equipment instead of letting "optimize" do it for me :P

-- oh shit I just realized I forgot Joust on my list of favorite games. I probably wasted half my childhood on that game, lol

this is why it is my favorite. im not a big story person because i usually just forget what the game is about after i beat it anyway. it's the games gameplay that attracts me to it. besides, purple lightning was just so cool @_@

My favorite game is a tie between Harvest Moon, Age of Wonders, Age of Empires II, Chrono Trigger, and Final Fantasy VI.

In at a close second are Super Mario RPG, Gears of War, Myst, and Final Fantasy IX.

Well damn. Now I wish I had bought it when I saw it at Gamestop for only twelve bucks :(

The PS2 version is horrible.  I don't know if they emulated the thing or what but the larger towns (I.E. all of them past the 10 hour mark) SLOW THE GAME DOWN TO A CRAWL.  I'm not talking about the occasional stutter, I mean the game literally looks like it's in Bullet Time.

Grandia 2 is also inferior to the first and while Grandia 3 is superior than Grandia 2 it's also inferior to the first one.  Grandia was a coming of age adventure tale with a sweet cast of lovable characters but Game Arts felt it wasn't HARDCORE enough and decided that Grandia 2 would be about socially depraved jackasses (the main character... SO TOUGH), a bishie badguy that's built up as the final boss but dies midway through the game, a lackluster final boss that makes you go "pfff how do they expect me to believe this thing could take over the earth?", and BOOBIES BOOBIES BOOBIES.  The game is also 6 hours too long and it has one of the longest and overdrawn climaxes ever; I felt like I went through what amounted as a "final dungeon" three different times.

Get the PS2 version if you don't have a Dreamcast, otherwise spend the 20$ or whatever buying the Dreamcast version on ebay.

i've only played the ps2 version so i can't compar it. i did play grandia 1 though, it was actually really fun and i played it up until some part where there is a maze you have to go through and then i gave up. i still like ryudo better then john (or josh?) though (purple lightning @_@)

My favorite single player game, as far as recent games go, would probably have to be a tie between Oblivion for its huge-iosity and Bioshock for its sick ass story. That is until Fable 2 comes out of course.

If I look towards the older games, I'd definitely have to say Diablo 2. The reason I separate the recent and older games is because you kind of have to. They just keep getting better at making games, so the new games are obviously gonna be better than the older games. I mean, if they released Diablo 2 for the first time in this day and age, it wouldnt be anywhere near as big as it is.

Multiplayer-wise, I'm probably gonna go with Call of Duty 4. Been playing that for a while now and I love the customizability of the classes and the fact that once you get to the highest level, you can prestige and start over.

lol justin. i actually thought the 1st one was way better because it had the same good gameplay but it had and AMAZING OST and a pretty good story. the voice timing was kinda balls but all in all i liked it alot.

so i guess my favorite game is either ffvi, grandia, dkc2, or super mario rpg :)

and omg the ps2 version was so shit. LOL CUTSCENES which looked like n64 graphics

wait no, in all seirousness it would have to be a tie between final fantasy 8 and final fantasy 10. tidus is my favorite rpg character period and final fantasy 8's junction system and gf system was awesome. the only reason why i don't say ff8 is my all-time fave is because i've still never beaten the game, i got to the 3rd disc and my sister broke my game (and then after years the memory card got lost in time).

Nobody enjoyed Star Ocean 2's combat system? ;_;

Where you could tweak out your characters skills and abilities in interesting ways...
Where you could spend hours trying to make ramen in-game and only wind up with charred rock...
Where you could send owls into town to shop for you, and no one questions that...
Where the storyline is so goddamn long and needlessly complex that you just go "Eh, fuckit" and look up pics of Opera's cleavage online.
The game with voice acting so bad it becomes funny-bad?
Where they subtly tell you "those men aren't in love, they're 'just good friends'."
