What games are you buying/looking forward to?

It's really just the same 'ole same 'ole pokemon,
with some screen cuts at new angles and the addition of "oh my god so revolutionary" 3 pokemon at a time battles.

From what I've read I'm quite disappointed actually - it's nowhere near the "amazing 3d revolutionary pokemon game" it was supposed to be (for god's sake it's not even on the 3DS) - not that I was planning on buying it anyway.
Don't forget the streamlining and new ways tms work and the fact there are no old Pokemon until you beat it and the plot that apparently is closer to becoming a plot than in the previous games and the new multiplayer systems and whatnot

(I'm waiting for Pokemon B/W. 3 days!)

The new pokemon tv series is quite crap as well. And it's not as great as the good old pokemon series and later.

Once again, Ash, is a dumbass for losing against his new rival, and always using pikachu, and not other pokemon, and not noticing that his thunder power was drained by that rare pokemon. But obviously, because he's in a new area. But oh well, the show is more kid-orientated anyway. :|:

So I'm going to revive this thread since we're a week away from Christmas and want to know:

What games have you bought lately, and what will you be buying over Christmas/New Year?

Within the last month I've bought:

Sonic Generations
Dark Souls Limited Edition
Earth Defence Force: Insect Armageddon
Rayman Origins
Nintendo 3DS (Got it the day after my birthday)
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D
Mario Kart 7
Ridge Racer 3D
Shinobi (3DS)
Assassin's Creed: Revelations
White Knight Chronicles II

And within the next two weeks, including Boxing Day sales etc. I'll be buying/looking for:

Saint's Row The Third
Shadows of the Damned
El Shaddai: Ascension of the Metatron
Super Mario 3D Land
Tales of the Abyss 3D
Cave Story 3D
Yakuza 4
Disgaea 4: A Promise Unforgotten
L.A Noire The Complete Edition

... And that's about it, a lot of those games can be found cheap online anyway (4 of them are on 2 for £25 deals), but since it's over Christmas I doubt they'll actually come within the 2-3 working days their respective websites say, lol, whereas others can just be picked up in stores anyway for discounted prices...

These games will probably last me a while, which means I won't have to buy any of the new games being released in the first quarter of 2012 (Maybe even until halfway through it, my backlog just continues to grow... but then there's PS Vita being released! D:)

As for which games I'm looking forward to in 2012, some of them are definitely the new SSX game, and Final Fantasy XIII-2, not to mention Ni No Kuni and Tales of Graces F (I wonder if Xillia will ever get localised...), it seems 2012 will be great for RPG's, lol.

The only game I'm currently looking forward to is Mass Effect 3.
All the other games I wanted are already in my possession now

(Though tbh, I haven't been paying much attention to games coming in 2012)

Yeah to be honest, there aren't as many games coming out in 2012 that I really want as opposed to 2011 where there's been a fuck ton of AMAZING releases... then again there's still lots of unannounced games that we'll surely see release next year, lol.

Really looking forward to the new Silent Hill game! Also I'll be buying Kingdom Hearts 3D when it releases, and Ocarina of Time for the 3DS. And right now, I'm currently playing Skyrim, what else?

I've just been reminded by a newsletter too, that Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning will be out on the 10th of February (7th for you yanks), and that game looks brilliant, so I guess I'll be adding it to my list too, I was hyped for it when it was announced and I saw all the videos, but I guess I forgot about it, lol.

So out of impulse I've just ordered Bioshock 2, I wasn't even a fan of the original, even though I never actually got past the first two hours... but I've bought the special edition which was only £20 and to be honest, is worth it for the extra goodies alone... I mean, I get three posters, a 150 page artbook, a 12" vinyl soundtrack, and a CD soundtrack, surely that's worth £20 alone, not to mention the black box it comes in looks great too, it has a butterfly on :D

You need a good slapping! Bioshock 1 was/is one of the best games ever. And still best shooter created so far!

Meh, I just wasn't feeling it when I played, although that was like, 4 years ago so my opinion may have changed... well since I'll be getting Bioshock Infinite, I'll have to play through the first game that comes with it (On PS3 yay, lol...) Which leads me to a question... I know Bioshock 2 story doesn't follow on from the first game (Isn't it more of a prequel since you play as the first Big Daddy?), but should I wait to play the first game first, or just play through the second anyway? I won't get confused by references or whatever, will I?

Bioshock 2 takes place after the first game so I'd start with that one, and the story isn't really that good anymore. In Bioshock 2 it seems like the whole Ryan vs. Fountain never took place. And Lamb is no where as good a bad guy as Fountain, though if you don't like puzzling the story in 2 might appeal more as it's all given on a silver plate instead of puzzling the pieces together like Bioshock 1 let you do.

Only Bioshock: Infinite takes place before the original (about 50 years if I'm remembering correctly).

wow jbrist you got a 3ds eh.... and ridge racer for it... IMO its one of the worst ridge racers ever.... the fuckin psp launch tittle played and looked better lol. anyways im looking forward to phantasy star online 2 :D and thats about it.. plus a bunch of cheap stuff on boxing day but as of now there is like Zero good sales sept for new assassins creed for 30 but i heard that game was awful compared to the last two

I don't know, Ridge Racer 3D doesn't look amazing, but the 3D is really cool, and the gameplay just feels the same as the PSP version, although you can use all three boost bars at once now which is really cool, the only thing I'd have liked is online play since only two other people I know have 3DS's and neither of them like Ridge Racer, lol...

If you liked the other Assassin's Creed games, you should definitely get Revelations, I mean, the storyline doesn't progress much whatsoever, but the added gameplay mechanics are really great and make it feel like the best Assassin's Creed gameplay wise, although the game itself is pretty short compared to the others, I mean, Brotherhood took me 25 hours doing it at my own pace, y'know, taking my time to check out the scenery and do the side missions... I didn't do all the side missions on Revelations, or get the special armour set, and the environment is a little bland since it's just a city with no open areas or horses whatsoever (Why would they introduce horseback combat in Brotherhood if they were going to remove horses completely from the next game...), and it took me around 12 hours... so yeah, pretty short compared to other games in the series (Except the first, that was really short too, despite having some pretty huge areas)

Basically, if you're thinking bout buying Revelations, get it for the gameplay, not the storyline, lol...

---

Earth Defence Force: Insect Armageddon came on Monday, and I've been doing some co-op AND survival with my brother through splitscreen, oh my god this game... this game is fucking, it's just BRILLIANT, I mean, the graphics are awful, the gameplay mechanics are so bad, the variety is enemies is nonexistant, it's either giant spiders or giant ants, with a few robots and spaceships thrown in there, but it's just so fun with another person around, seriously, trying to play the game solo is boring as hell, but with co-op and survival (Online co-op with two other people, or survival with five other people), the game is such a blast to play, I only paid £8 for it, which for me would equate to around 2 hours of gameplay considering I'd want atleast 10 hours for a full priced £40 game, but I've played it for a good 6-8 hours so far, definitely got my monies worth out of it, definitely worth a purchase if you can get it for cheap and you have a friend to play with.

Also, Bioshock 2 special edition came today while I was at work, I only came home less than an hour ago, but I saw this huge brown box looking at me, with my name on it, I was like I wonder what that is, so I open it up and there's lots of those foam thingies in it, and there in the middle is the special edition, I've got to say, the way they've presented it is amazing, the box looks gorgeous and I've already put all three posters up in my room, gonna' have a listen to the soundtrack and flick through the art book after I've had something to eat, although I'm not planning on playing the game just yet, not until I've either bought the first game, or Bioshock Infinite (Even though that could take a while, but I've got tons of other games to play until then, lol), this was definitely worth the £20 I paid just for these extras alone...

I've checked out this game and I have to say it does look pretty awesome!
I'm definitely putting that one on my list.

Skyrim.

I was going to make an effort to do a no-fast-travel run, but it took me exactly one trek up to High Hrothgar to get me to say screw it and give up.
