i've never heard of like... any of the tracks you guys mention o_O
The Silversun Pickups
SSPU is a new band I found, they're from California somewhere. They sound somewhere between Smashing Pumpkins (vocal quality of melodic atmosphere, overdriven guitars, chick bass player) and Coheed and Cambria (singer sounds like Claudio Sanchez, but softer and not as creepy.)
Lazy Eye
They're atmospheric and dreamlike, with interspersions of screaming/fucked up shoegazing guitar sounds, but still sorta soft.
Fall Out Boy
A lot of people hear that name and go "OMG, emo music eww." But that's because they're retarded little shit monkeys that either don't know anything about music or have never actually listened to a FoB song in their life. These are the same people who play Guitar Hero once and think they know thing one about music. While Pete Wentz, the bassist of the band looks and acts emo, he's really a camwhore with a tiny dick (he provided the proof himself.)
FoB's sound has become less punk and more 1980s black R&B/pop as the years have gone on. Their drumming has also gone from totally shitty to "non-intrusive." They mostly work fast power chords in the punk style, but they've been weaning themselves off of that so I guess it's commendable. No matter where you come from, most people agree their pop hooks are catchy as the devil's testicles.
I Don't Care
Dethklok
If you don't know Dethklok, well... I can't help you.
Bloodrocuted
Dream Theater
Dream Theater is a little known progressive metal band (from my list you'll discover I have a thing for them.) Their 92 album "Images and Words" kicked ass and proceeded to spread like a plague across the world showing people that progressive rock didn't die out in the 70s, but has been waiting deep in the ocean, slumbering and gaining power till judgement day when he will arise from his watery cradle and rain a cavalcade of destruction upon the heads of the non-believers...
Those of us who know the truth, and have accepted it shall face a quick and relatively painless death, while the wastes of humanity shall endure a long imbibed torture as their flesh is ripped from their naked bones and their souls rock with the veracity of a hag's death throes!!
And their other album Octavarium is pretty cool too.
Smashing Pumpkins
See: Dethklok
Tonight, Tonight
The Mars Volta
More progressive rock, but instead of melodic and heavy, it's schizophrenic with lyrics that don't make a damn sense and random shifts into a kind of... latin... metal... thing. VERY psychedelic, and just fun to listen to.
Ilyena
Polaris
Polaris is a band from the 90s featuring alternative/folk/indie/homeless looking guy Mark Mulcahy. After his previous work on Miracle Legion, the creators of Pete and Pete asked him to create the theme song to their new show Pete and Pete (which featured heavy amounts of alternative indie rock in the soundtrack.) Mark chose "Hey Sandy", which really has nothing to do with the show at all, however it does feature the story of a college girl getting shot during a school protest. Mark slipped this past the Nick censors by mumbling the lyrics, and what most people thought was "Does your dog bite? Hey Sandy" was actually "Don't you talk back, Hey Sandy."
Hey Sandy
Frank Sinatra
I Get a Kick Out of You
Sadly I couldn't find the version where he sings about why he doesn't snort cocaine. :<
Mr. Bungle
Mr. Bungle is one of Mike Patton's (Faith No More/Fantomas/Peeping Tom) queer and failed bands. It didn't fail because the music sucks, but because it happened to be a rock/rap band that garnered the ire of the lead singer of the Red Hot Chili Peppers who was on douche-medication throughout the 90s. Mike Patton's music is obscure, with lots of tempo changes and musical flourishes that involve anything from poloroid camera's to his own voice.
He also provided the voice for The Darkness and one of GLaDOS's eye brains in Portal.
Vanity Fair <-- That's the most accessible song of theirs in my opinion. Anything else is like "WTF...?"
Coheed and Cambria
Coheed and Cambria are a progressive rock/metal band from New York. They're mostly known for their concept albums, all of which tell the story of a sci-fi robot war surrounding a married Irobot couple Coheed and Cambria. The lead singer, Claudio Sanchez also has a girly high-pitched voice that rivals Michael Jackson, which is jarring since he's a big heavy Puerto Rican guy with hair long enough to run for govenor of Texas.

Their songs go from fast and driving to slow and creepy with a steady beat. They also feature dueling guitar solos, orchestrated cuts and vocal layering. You may not have heard of them but it's a guaranteed bet you've heard their song "Welcome Home" at some point.
