Web 2.0 Graphics.

Hi. I'd like to discuss...web 2.0 graphics. I'm sure you've heard of them. 1px lines that go 45 degrees, shapes and graphics that have a "glossy" effect and sometimes have a reflection on them? Yeah, I'm sure you've heard of them.

I'm a fan of web 2.0 graphics actually. I remember back when I was 14 or so, I used to see these userbars and I told myself "I want to be able to do these." I just liked them. Here I am now, finally knowing how to create a glossy effects and userbars. I thought it was quite nice that I learned how to do them. Shortly, my one-man celebration faded away.

I always thought these were cool but now I'm starting to get somewhat annoyed with them. I like making these graphics but I'm just annoyed with them now because they're everywhere. They're on websites I usually go to like wwe.com, flyers (I think web 2.0 graphics just doesn't look good on a flyer), advertisements, pop up advertisements, TV shows, my computer (I use Vista) and even video games (which really annoyed me).

The fact that I see this everywhere now annoys me and sometimes I hope this would just end. I probably look like a hypocrite now, I know I am. I mean I use them ALL THE TIME. I like these graphics but I do have my limits.

And now, I would like to ask you. What do you think of Web 2.0 graphics? Do you like them? Dislike them? Annoyed with them? What are your thoughts about them?

Web 2.0 actually refers to community-driven shit and sites that are reliable on networking rather than static content. The graphic style you're talking about just happens to go along with the trend.

It's stylish if not overused. Reflection effects annoy me.

I like them... As long as it's not like SUPAH BRIGHT LIME GREEN!! with glossy saturated gradients and glossy shiney plasticness all over, and reflections right and left.

If it's discreet that is. It'll look as cheesy as tye dye or whatever in 10 years though.
