Weapon Equip raises stats

I would like to know how i could make a common event.That when a certain weapon is equipped, it raises whatever stat i choose including Max Hp. ANd then when its unequiped it goes back to normal. Now i Know that the basic database does this in the weapon equip screen, but one of the scripts im using interferes with that so i need to do it through common events.
This is what i did and it didnt work

Parallel Process              Switch # 51 on
COnditional branch, when ( Fire ) is equipped
>
Change paramaters(player one) 1000 HP
>
Else
>
Branch End
>

Any ideas would be helpful, i thought that would work ive never had trouble eventing before.

Well unless you want set numbers added to say Max HP my following idea won't work for you but anyways:

One idea would be to make a status that increases the characters Max HP by say 110% which would mean if he had 100 HP having this status would make it now 110 HP. By using the Auto state feature within the weapons area you can easily set this up. Sadly however it only works in %s not set numbers. Just a thought.
