Wanting to Buy a Bow...

i dont need a shotgun, this isnt for hunting or protection so it doesnt matter if theyre difficult to use, i like challenges and to try new things

Glad to hear it.

A 35 pound recurve is probably gonna lob an arrow quite a distance, unless there's something really funky about it. I mean, the things are fiberglass with dacron strings - they aren't exactly garbage. It's almost good enough to hunt with, if it shoots straight.

Been a while since I went looking for one. Been using my Ben Pearson Razorback for a good 20-odd years. Not for hunting either. Just for the fun of it.

Yeah, friend. I have an classic wooden recurve older than you. Hehe... wonder why I haven't looked?

Sorry. It's just I enjoyed firing a shotgun more than using a bow. I don't know anything about bows. :(
I'll stop spamming now then.

Heh... my father's the deerhunter in the family. Straight up, redneck. And I've ticked him off (really) by splitting arrows. Merely a 45 lb pull, but after judging distance, I'm fairly accurate within 30 yards or so. Traditional wooden shaft arrows too...

Far as those bows... um... well... let's see if I can find a pic somewhere of what mine looks like...

:-/ Great... this 1964 Razorback was sold for just 50??? Yeesh. The guy musta NOT taken care of it.

Have you tried eBAY?

hmm i think im going to go with the one on the site i first posted unless someone can find me something better for the same price

I'm having no luck man, sorry. One thing you could try is, as was suggested, looking on ebay or possibly even pawn shops. You might be surprised.

Check out your nearest weapons shop. It should be located next to the item shop and the inn. But beware, if you live anywhere near the end of the game, expect the prices to be fairly rough.

lol. and if anything I'd suggest a longbow or flatbow, but make sure you don't get anything too strong or you won't even be able to pull it back, trust me, I've been arching for 7 years straight.

The one's you posted are ok, but if anything you'd want something you could use in a reinactment, now they can range from ?70 - ?250+ ($140 - $500+ roughly), if anything I'd suggest you look at http://www.bowsports.com/acatalog/Traditional_Bows.html as they have some very high quality bows. Then all you have to do is work out your strength and build, if you're a large/strong build I'd suggest something with a limb weight over 55lbs. as you could really get some range with that, and last but most importantly, make sure you get one for the right firing hand!

EDIT: To be honest, I'd go with Arc's or Ccoa's advice.

I dunno, I'm a pretty big fan of the flatbow to be fair as you can really haul some distance, but if anything I prefer a chinese shortbow or a good old English crossbow (both of which I own, not bragging of course....)

well like i said i think im going to go with the ones i first posted, and then later on depending how well i do/how much i like it ill invest in something better

Hey, my uncle does this. Its a really good thing if you can get good. He does tournaments and stuff and won the 01 Senior world championship or something I might have the year wrong. Anyway, if you like it you should stick with it. You can win money and not have to work all your life. Also killing things with a bow is so much more satisfying, assuming you want to hunt.
