wall-e

man am i the ONLY ONE WHO WATCHES MOVIES or waht. seriously people help me out here you don't sit around and wait for me to make every movie topic to you??

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/e ... poster.jpg[/img]

it's about a robot who does his job and compresses garbage into little squares and cleans up the earth after humans have moved away. 700 years pass in this monotonous life until a probe robot comes to search the earth for plant life. a really adorable romance blossoms between the two robots and of course they end up having to thwart a plot and bring humans back to return the earth to its former glory.

i saw it tonight and was very excited. i mean pixar has an incredible track record. i absolutely LOVED last year's ratatouille, not to mention finding nemo, the incredibles, etc.

i was disappointed.   :dead:

i mean it was GOOD but it certainly didn't live up to some of pixar's past movies, or at least it didn't live up to what i was expecting. a LOT of it did, though, especially the first twenty minutes or so. the interactions between wall-e and eve were fucking ADORABLE and the robot designs in this thing were really fucking good.

but the whole environmental message was WAAAY too blatant and over the top. especially after the happening and other movies, the whole thing is just being overdone to the point where it's just fucking annoying and even insulting. IF YOU ARE WATCHING THIS MOVIE YOU ARE A HUMAN AND THEREFORE ARE RUINING THE ENVIRONMENT GET OFF YOUR ASS AND EXERCISE.

as soon as the movie introduced the humans it seemed to really go downhill for me. the scenes with the robots really were able to keep their charm, but the rest of it was just too unbelievable and hard to really enjoy too much.

so talk about wall-e i guess

monday i'm seeing an advanced screening of Hancock so I'll post here abouts it ok??

anyway

I saw the trailers, the first trailers, the ones without any humans in them. Then I thought that the movie was all about robots that don't really talk and I was pretty excited. It looked really cute. I've been underwhelmed by every Pixar/Dreamworks/whatever 3D stuff movie after Shrek, really, it just seems like they go, "fuck traditional animation lol this is cheap. so let's not have any creative input on it outside the writing and have EVERY FUCKING CHARACTER have the EXACT SAME round-eyes semi-cartoony art style. OH and let's put in EVERY OBNOXIOUS almost-A-list celebrity we can find on the roster!!!!".

BUT BESIDES THAT I saw the first extended trailer and it didn't look like the typical Pixar art style (since there weren't any humans). So I was pretty excited. Then I saw a trailer a few weeks ago on TV, and there were humans.

SIGH

I lost all interest.

I guess I was right!!!

you know what I want?

A movie without TALKING. That's right. No one talks the WHOLE MOVIE. Sounds are fine obviously. Everything's gotta rely on emotions, expressions, movement, music, sound ambience. I think it would be daring and awesome.

I still wanna see it...sorta. Des's comments don't instill much faith for me.

Knowing me though, I'll go see it anyways.

After cars I pretty much gave up on Pixar but Ratatouille restored my confidence in them. Im prolly going to wait for this to come on DVD because It really hasnt caught my attention like past pixar movies.

they arent, TERRIBLE, by any means. They have some decent movies but what annoys me is that they usually present some viral indirect message in almost all their movies, I mean If I wanted to get information on friendship or the environment I would turn on fucking pbs.

i thought disney claimed, like 5 years ago, that they were done with CG movies, and were moving back to oldschool animation?

i have no interest in this movie. looks like an incredibly bad way to burn 90~ minutes.

dude what. every single one of their movies has the same exact art style and formula and humor. it might've been good like TEN YEARS AGO when CG movies were just starting out and there was that HEY THAT SHIT'S HIGH-TECH edge to counteract the fact that disney sucked at movies but they're not good movies at all man and the WOW factor is dead.

when you compare them to any other computer animated movies they REALLY stand out as being amazing like all of dreamworks shit is HORRIBLEpfffff shrekdfff

well thats sort of what I was about to go into as well, i will totally agree there. almost all the pixar movies are cliche in this way (main character who wants is normal but wants to be above average, then encounters a problem, then filler with humor, major dramatic sequence, then courageous comeback and happy finale with some sort of message) and the one I stated, which is another reason im just going to wait for it to come on dvd or something.

I dont think they are bad movies, yeah, the CG and stuff is outdated but it can hold my attention for a little bit if it comes on tv or something, but its not something I would stand in line for exactly. im not a pixar fan but they have a couple good movies that I will occasionally watch for nostalgia.

I also dont know why pixar and disney are still making films together, I thought they had a falling out or something?

Dreamworks could be good if they put their minds to it, idk why they have alot of shit animated films (ANTZ, WHICH RIPPED RIGHT OFF THAT PIXAR ANT MOVIE???)

I found the trailers to be rather boring and childish, but after it got so many "perfect film" reviews on rotten tomatoes, I saw it out of curiosity to see what the fuss is about.

I am usually not fond of 3D animated films, but personally this is my favourite movie this year (and perhaps extends to quite a few years back). Say what you will, but I surprisingly enjoyed it more than Iron Man (which I enjoyed a lot).

I do agree that it's rather (albeit personally understandably) over-rated even though I loved it, and perhaps the reviews are all biased or whatnot, but it means a bit of something of its standing in the eyes of the general public.

It's basically a love story in its core; one of the best love stories I've seen at that. Surprisingly, strangely and perhaps sadly, about two robots in an animated film.

actually the exact opposite. they canned all their traditional animation staff in lieu of CG artists because CG is cheaper/faster

See 'Silent Movie'. It's a Mel Brooks film and ought to have you howling with laughter.

I don't even want to talk about that...chihuaha movie. The preview was positively moronic. The fact that it's made by Disney is horridly dissapointing.

Now, on to Wall-E. It probably isn't the best Pixar film. Yes the environmentalist message hits you over the head...but it IS a kid's movie. Subtlety is lost on children. I'll be frank: I loved it. Probably my favorite Pixar movie. It's the first to have a realistic approach with very little cartoon elements (graphically, anyway), and I thought they did a marvellous job. EVE and Wall-E were pure in a way humans could never be, as was their...well can you call it love? They are two robots, for chrissakes. Regardless, there was an untarnishable playfulness to them. Personally I'd say Wall-E himself is one of the best lead characters Pixar has made so far.

1. Movie studios fund movies and no movie executive would approve it,

2. Movies are out to make a profit....

3. While I agree something like this would be quite daring and awesome, I do not think it will ever exist.
