[VX] Making a party member walk out from player.

I want to make a character walk out from the player during certain conversations with NPCs. I can get as far as setting the party member to no graphic and through, and moving toward player (repeating so he goes inside him) when the conversation starts but then when I make him step out and turn the graphic back on, "move away from player" doesn't work because he keeps doing it until he hits a wall. I can't just do it once in a single direction because the player could be talking to the NPC from any direction.

If I understand you right, you may just use a move route? At the right point, set the move route so that the character walks away... Of course this wouldn't work right if the player can walk to anywhere in the conversation.

Have you accidentally checked "Repeat Action" (or w/e it's called in VX) in the Move Route? That might be what's making the character move away from the player until he hits a wall.

Another method you could do is have 4 Conditional Branches checking which direction the player is facing, and have the character walk in the opposite direction.
