Setting switches manually won't work, because the time system is continually updating them. As soon as you turn it off, it'll turn right back on. if the clock is changing to 7am, I'm assuming its the next morning, if you need to refresh the events, make a bedroom that the player is teleported to or something... the events don't constantly update in the way that it sounds like you're trying to make them work. Also, I've experienced events just disappearing while you walk by, it doesn't really give your game that "finished" feel.
