Castle Assault Community Project

What is Castle Assault?
The C.A.P. is an attempt to produce a high quality game involving the whole community of RMXP.ORG!
The game is actually a compilation of mini games with a single plot: infiltrate and take over a castle.
Everyone is encouraged to freely edit the project to create new mini games or modify the existing ones.

Plot
The Dark Conspiracy has fought against the feudal lords for hundreds of years.  Recently, the group has hired Ralph, a famous (or infamous) rogue, to infiltrate in the fortified castle of Lord Magroth to open the rock solid gates and let the Dark Conspiracy take over the castle.  In his mission, Ralph will discover that Lord Aluxes' castle is not like anyother and that it hides many secrets...

After Ralph manages to enter into the castle, he will need 3 keys to open the Main Gate.  To get the keys Ralph needs to find and defeat 3 bosses (of course, fighting these bosses are mini games too).  When he finally opens the Main Gate, Ralph lets the Dark Conspiracy enter into the castle...

Note: The plot is only a base and may be changed at any time.

The Dark Conspiracy has discovered cave that may lead to the castle; however, its very unstable and to pass through it Ralph would have to dodge the falling rocks.
• 7 falling rocks.
• Each one falls at different times.

Ralph appears in the training camp of Lord Magroth's guards!
• 6 guards that walk randomly.
• Their speed and frequency is very slow when they aren't watching you.

Finally, Ralph enters into the castle.  But he discovers that there are more challenging things than guards in the castle.
• A total of 12 fire genies.
• Some fireballs are slower or faster than the others.
• There are 8 checkpoints (flashing white squares) where you respawn if a fireball hits you.
• This stage has 4 exits: West Training Camp, Mystic Tower, East Training Camp, and the Main Gate.
• The Main Gate can only be opened after defeating the 3 mini game bosses. (Not created yet.)

Ralph is now in the Mystic Tower. To open the gate he needs to press the 4 switches...
• All the Thunder Seals move in a set pattern and change their speed.
• If a Thunder Seal hits, you have to reactivate all the switches again.
• There is a bug that if you walk vertically over the seals you won't get hit.

Now Ralph is in another section of the Mystic Tower, but this time he barely sees anything!
• 2 Phantoms.  If you're near them, they follow you.
• You can see walls 1 tile of distance from you; phantoms and the exits, 2 tiles of distance.

Guidelines to edit the project
  • Each mini game has to be different from the others.  They can share the same mechanics (jumping, dodging, etc) but need something that makes them unique over the others.
  • The mini games, event-based or scripted, HAVE to be created by you.
  • Try to use use the least quantity of events per map as you can and use common events.
  • Comment your events and/or scripts.  Explain what the event do!
  • Don't add battles (side-view, front-view, etc) unless you are really sure they are not just button-smashing and are actually fun to play.
  • Try to do your best to create fun mini games!
  • When compressing the project, DO NOT check 'Create Encrypted Archive'.

When you think you have created a fun to play mini game or improved an old one, send me the project.
I'll probably edit it before adding it to the main project.

Maple, I actually love it when someone uses RPG Maker for something besides RPGs, especially mazes @_@

This looks pretty good. As moogle said, it's something new and I'm pretty sure I'll try it once it's done.

The only weird thing is you included the project with the download.

EDIT: I just gave the first post a re-read, I see that it was intentional :3

Okay, some faults:

It's very hard the whole way through. First levels are meant to be easier :P

On the High Voltage Stage, it's laggy AND you can actually skip past things if they aren't properly on a tile.

On the Phantom Floor, when the ghost hits you, then you get stuck on top of it and I had to restart the game at that section.

Is stage 5 incomplete?
You need a bit of patience to beat this stage. :wink:
And yes, stage 5 is incomplete. I will add some information about that stage later...
 
The mini games are really nice, I really enjoyed playing them ^^
The only thing that is a turn off, is the environment, I have you thought of changing it to something else?
I can totally see this game set in a space environment... like exploring an abandoned space colony

It sounds as if your putting your game into influence here! >:O
But then again, the story is up for change, so technically it's your decision. And mine too, I suppose. But meh. This looks interesting, but there have been several failed attempts at a community project. But that's just my two cents.

Hm, I'm usually not too much of a yay-sayer for community things like this due to the extremely low success rate, but seeing that this has already taken off with decent success, I'll be keeping an eye on it. c: Good luck, and keep it up!
 
Get a cracked version or something...we won't hate you that much. The mazes are fun but I want to see something more unique for each one. If I am feeling up to it, I'll work on one for you.

No, you are free to do whatever you want to the story as long as it makes sense and is fun.

Yep, these mazes are basically go from point A to point B... I'll try to make something more innovative.

Version 0.2 includes:
- Stage 5: Phantom Floor
- Comments in almost all the events of previous stages.
- Added the Terrain Tag function (script).
