A cool character set made for VX. It's a Male Magician.

Is this a rip or did you seriously make this? If you made it, I'm pretty impressed; 3D moulding doesn't seem very easy, especially when you're going for rounded edges and that sort of thing. If it's a rip, you should note where it's from, at least, partially in case anyone is interested in getting more from the same source.

A couple things, though:

It's kind of jarring the way his cape is widest when he's taking a step with his right foot and narrowest when he's taking one with his left. In my experience, this isn't generally the way clothing behaves; if a cape, cloak, hoodie, what-have-you behaves a certain way on one step, it stands to reason that it should do the same on the other step unless it has a specific reason not to (wind, starch, etc.) I'm going to rule out wind and starch on this one, though.

My second concern is one of compatibility. It looks nice, but the fact is that it's going to be jarring and out of place among the 2D pixel-constructed majority of resources for any RM engine. If there are more where this came from (a game or your mind,) that would do a great deal to improve the popularity of this characterset.

I'm actually quite curious as to this point, so I'd appreciate an answer.

The RO textures definitely look promising for tileset use, although I'm having second thoughts about how things would come together. I've never been a fan of 3D models made into a 2D medium, though, so maybe I'm speaking from a bias, but as 2D media goes, sprites are generally better than 3D models, since they're tailor-made in exactly the way they would appear onscreen, rather than crafted to look a certain way in a full 360' view and then made to rely on the angle of capture.
 
Well, I'm kind of tired of the classic 2d style, On VX the tree's are to small and the mapping looks cheesy, which is why it needs to be completely remade o.o.

I'm not sure where I got it, I cannot remember, I think it was originally for XP, but it got thrown in the dust, I remade it for VX and made some edits...
Thought this is a "Rip" I plan to make a 3d character :)

Well I wouldn't say I insulted him, he brought it on, and I gave him an honest opinion :\.

-The "I don't like the look" Is exactly what im looking for, instructive criticism. This would probally be best with an 8-way movement. I'll try to use this in action with a few 1337 tilesets, then release it l8r
 
I'd have to see it on the background you're going to put them in to really tell. Right now the face seems kinda blurry like the eye area is rather undefined.
 
3D is nice, but in the messed up perspective of RM, there is no way it can fit. Mostly shading. It would still be intresting to see whole games made in rendered 2D, so good luck on your idea  :thumb:
