vista revisited

I'm having problems running RMXP on my new system with Windows Vista. I followed all the steps in this thread: http://www.rmxp.org/forums/showthread.php?t=24144&highlight=vista

but, to no avail. When I start the program, I get a message from windows saying "RMXP has stopped working". The program then closes.

can anyone help me out?

Either: You hacked vista and lowed the required ram or installed it on a computer made in 1995, or you're using the PK edition...Go legal and this wouldn't happen.

By the looks of your join date I'm guessing you didn't get the original japanese version either, which I don't think is on retail anymore.
