Vista Problem

I tried installing RPG Maker XP on my laptop thats running Vista. Every time I open it, it either has an error, or stops working instantly. It also barely runs a game made with RPG maker. It works occasionally. Does anyone know how to fix this?

I know I had to run it under xp compatible mood and as admin
