VIRUS!

I've recently gotten a virus that redirects me to other websites when I click links on Google. It (or something else) also makes certain .EXE files unrunnable. Any advice on how to kill this son of a bitch?

run spybot search and destroy first, and check if that finds anything obscure
don't just delete everything it finds though, because some things you don't want to delete

It sounds like you have a rootkit. I recommend following Samot's suggestion, and then looking for one of the free rootkit removers.

I ended up just re-installing Windows. It got to a point where every time I logged in, I was getting the Blue Screen of Death

If possible then try to get name of that virus so that you can directly use that virus's removal.Otherwise download quick heal anti-virus from Internet and after install it ,choose option Native boot scan and it will ask you to restart pc ,now say yes,It will scan your pc before loading your OS so all viruses will be cleaned.
