Ven's MegaCon Tour '08 (warning: over 60 photos)

lol, well, I don't know what E for All is, but yeah, E3 was limited to professionals-only for monetary reasons. The boon they saw from going over the top wasn't affecting their sales, and some of these guys'd spend millions on their booths, so they cut it back.

I haven't been to ComiCon since 2004 (the year I moved to Florida). But my friends there give me updates. They said that the entire cast of HEROES was there and DarkHorse and a few others, I think Top Cow too, were there to look at portfolios and admit new comic book ideas. And there was a ton on all the latest movies and like a bunch of big Pokemon/Yugi-Oh!/Warhammer/MagicTG tournaments, with monetary rewards. They also got advanced previews on Super Mario Galaxy (this was before it came out), and some other games.

I was jealous D:

ok, not trying to be rude, no need to get worked up about it.

<sigh> If I were getting worked up, you'd be able to tell.

Iunno, I don't think I could stand something so huge as Comicon, at least not at this point in my life. For one thing, the lines would be immense. Maybe it's something I'd need to ease myself into.

(That and I'm not crazy about the Heroes cast or anything like that. I'd much rather keep my TV personalities on TV, where they're not actually celebrities.)

I'm going to have to agree with you on that one.
Crap I get annoyed and staffled if a store is packed, this thing would drive me crazy.

ComiCon rocks. There's women who dress up as Spartans and don't wear clothing underneath the costumes, and walk around casually. Never wear a shirt with a comic printed on it though. So many people were touching me....T_T

I'm not a "people person"--hell, I'm mostly agoraphobic. But there's something about gatherings of nerds that compels me out of my house ...

Also I'm going to the Tampa Renaissance Festival in two weeks (was going to this weekend, but I gotta do shit). For that, I AM going to dress up (I have a $170 gown--corset, petticoat, skirt, blouse-- as a gift, wouldn't want to waste it XD). I'll post pics of that too when it happens, probably.

Ehm, TREG, IS this your friend?

That guy in the Red ring?, he wears a tux, as far as I can see...

I am upset with the lack of Prinnies =(

Oh god, how did I not notice this!? D:<

The Jawa would hat fit perfectly into a Prinny suit! It's a travesty that he did not regonize this fact!

Being six foot three, I'm afraid I can never be a Prinny. I'll have to settle for dressing as Axel/Akutare. <3

Haha, ironically yeah my brother (who is a big guy, around 6'5'' and 240lbs) went to Animazement as a prinny. I think he went to another con and won an award for being the only prinny there lol.

But all that said, those pics are really nice! Im going to Animazement next year, so I cant wait to be apart of a con.

I have a newfound deep respect for your brother. Which mediums did he use to manage the costume? I'm looking into making some (simpler) costumes myself at some undetermined future point, and so it'd be cool to know where to start. : P

(Akutare seems particularly impossible. That hair and that collar...)

Specifically, Im not sure. It was pretty simplistic, but the beak was made out of cardboard with some synthetic fur on the outside. The wings were stapled on and he used a brown bookbag-purse as the little bag those things carry.

I'll find some pics of him posing with Link and other various anime/video game characters and post them- It's so hilarious! I almost pissed myself.

Yeah, costumes are a bitch to make.
A friend of mine makes all kinds of stuff like that in his free time, though. It's really cool to see him walking around school with a replica of Cloud's sword, and, two days ago, Sora's keyblade. It had a little mickey mouse head made of some kind of metal dangling off the bottom, too.
Damn, I wish I'd taken pictures.
