Alright, here's my first piece of concept art for my game, Rise of the Ether Born. The characters are not well-drawn or all that fleshed out, but the basics are there and that is all that matters. I decided to draw some non-main characters first so I would not get too caught up with details.

Depicted here is a five-member, all female group of mercenaries. They constantly cause trouble for the main characters when there are conflicts of interest, but are surprisingly helpful when they ever end up having the same goals.
From left to right there is Joan, Marin, Valerie, Carmen, and Matilda.
I am unsatisfied with much of it, particularly Carmen and Matilda's faces, but again, basics are a there so check. I am just glad to be done with it so I can move on.

The orange-haired young lady, Joan, is the newest member to the mercenary crew. She is only used to formal battle, but her quick wits and astoundingly fast fencing techniques makes her a valuable asset despite her inexperience with her new-found job. She has trouble relating to the others so far, but her productive and militant personality is what caught Valerie’s eye. She has a lot of potential. She picked up a small shield to deal with the unavoidable melee combat, and has adapted very well.

Marin, the purple-haired "mermaid," has been with Valerie the longest. She is Valerie's right-hand lady so to speak. She learned how to wield the katana as a samurai through unknown means and uses a strange fighting style she developed herself. She can draw her sword with either hand, and effectively angle it the opposite direction in battle which makes her very hard to predict and versatile. She is a sound tactician and gives orders in Valerie's absence.

The leader, Valerie, has white hair since she is practically albino (excepting the blue eyes). She is a mystic, which is someone born with a power unique to them. Her mystic power is illusion spells. They are powerful enough that they affect an enemy's central nervous system to make the enemy think whatever she conjures up is actually happening. She mainly uses her ability to sink into shadows and appear to be everywhere or nowhere. She then uses her mace or gauntlet to knock out the hoodwinked enemy. She wears a white cloth over part of her face for some reason, but no one other than Marin knows why.

The red-haired and pale beauty, Carmen, is a lady with startling reflexes and unusual strength. She wields a black whip and strikes like a viper. She makes attacks effortlessly as if it were second-nature. She fights in heels and worries about trivial matters during battle, but despite her seeming lack of focus she decimates her enemies. She considers most regular battle a waste of time, but if she feels challenged she enjoys every moment of her fights yet still seems flippant about it all. She only takes night missions and prefers to go alone if it is an option.

The brown-haired girl, Matilda, is a particularly gifted mystic in terms of raw power. She has a connection to the arcane arts which allows her to use complex and incredibly powerful spells with little or no rituals at the cost of her own physical/mental/spiritual energies. She can also unleash her own energy in a wave of power, but it is dangerous to her and everyone around friend or foe. She is the youngest member of the mercenaries at the age of 17.

okey dokey
one thing i would maybe recommend is that you add some more curve to your females. Some of the hips are a little flat. Remember that boobs dont make the female.

Your characters also seem a little bit stout. Maybe extend the legs out a little more. Im no art expert or proportion expert so I think someone should back me up. x:

The poses are a little static as well. Remember to accentuate.

Its basic but its a good start. Maybe play around a little bit more and stuff. Try using a larger canvas and maybe focusing on one character at a time doing different poses?

Thank you for the critique. However, think of these as "paper doll" versions of the characters. My focus on decent anatomy and such was not as important as doing a piece of art quickly for visual reference. It also let me try to develop their outfits and apply color.

As for your suggestions to play around more and do one character at a time. OH, I intend to. :D
