Using transitions?

I've been using RMXP for years but have never used transitions :)

How do you use them?

I have a boss battle, on the map, so I want to show a transition before it happens. So I tried "excecute transition", and chose the one I wanted, but this does nothing.

Thanks!

Theres two commands to this, one that sets it up and one that executes it, I believe their right next(above and below) each other. I could be wrong but I haven't used RMXP in a short while.

Wyatt, you need to "Prepare for Transition", which freezes the update of the display
then execute some commands that change what's on the screen, usually a transport, but I think battle should work
Then, Execute the transition.

Be Well

[ edit ] Ok, I was wrong, battle doesn't work, it has it's own built-in transition.
But, changing the event graphic works, if you're using a ABS.

This probably won't make any sense, but I'll try and explain anyway. When a transition processes, it fades into a specific color, right? For example, in the old RMs, while teleporting, the transition processed, and the screen became black, then after the teleport, the transition processed again making the screen the normal color, right?

It works that way in RMXP as well. You wouldn't understand it now, but put it into a test project and see how it works.
