Using Script to Change Equipment

I've tried doint this a couple ways and can't seem to get it to work.
Is there anyway to force an actor to equip a certain item???
Im trying to use the call script comand of an event!

Look in Game_Actor, under def equip

Use:

$game_actors[x].equip(type, id)

x is the actor's number in the database. Type is the type of equippable (0: Weapon, 1: Shield, 2: Helmet, 3: Body Armor, 4: Accessory), and id is the id of the equippable.
