Using parallel process for a time system ...

I've been using a common event to create a time system.  What I did is create a loop, and after a set amount of time, the screen tint is changed to represent the sun setting and rising.  I created a common event that works with parallel processing, but I've hit a snag.  Every time the player is transferred to a new map, the event resets itself.  In other words, it goes back to the top of the loop every time the player changes areas.  This is a problem because when the player changes areas it becomes daytime again quickly and also a switch I'm using for lights doesn't turn off.  Is there a simple way to make this work for all maps?  I'm using parallel process for other events, so I'd need something that specifically targets this one common event.

I'd really appreciate this as soon as possible.  I need this for the 2 week contest, so I have to have it by Thursday or I'll have to remove the system from my game. :dead:
