I know many of you guys across the pond don't follow Football at all but currently USA are 45 minutes away from winning their (to my knowledge) first ever International Honours.

Is this getting any exposure in NA? Ok, so it's not v. important tournament for the big guns but USA got through the group stage in quite spectacular fashion after needing win in their final of 3 games and remake a 6 goal difference. They beat Egypt 3-0 and Brazil beat Italy 3-0. Brazil may regret that now because they are being beaten at half time 2 - 0 by the Americans. Not to mention they already dispatched the worlds best Football team (Spain) with relative easy to get through the semis.

So can you guys hold on for 45 more minutes and tae home your first major "soccer" honour?

i watched the game with Spain. I hnestly am surprised that we made it this far. I dont know how we beat spain, some miracle I suppose.

Yeah I guess so ^^ I would have bet that spain would win it (being one of the favourites in the world cup next year and all), but you guys totally suprised me. I would have loved to see you win that one.

You've already got it, 3 of our best players suspended somewhat unfairly. You will still lose though :P

Well we will see. I don't really expect us to win, but you never know.
I don't quite like the way our coach build the team. So I believe we don't play at our full potential.
I'd say as long as you guys stop Özil and Marin you are sure to win. That is if you can get past Boateng and Neuer. Those are the four guys who are normally our best.
Anyways, we will see.

Well the answer is obvious. we are shit.

I'm a fan of football but I generally don't watch matches with obvious outcomes or with teams I don't know of, but after defeating Spain, I was skeptical whether USA could pull it off again, and what do you know, USA does have some potential, and it really made the game worth watching.

The problem I saw was if Brazil scored as little as 1 goal, it would disrupt USA's whole game, and it's a shame it had to happen right at the beginning of the second half. They had about 2 or 3 chances, while Brazil shot about a 25 times towards their goal, so I give props to USA for giving them a pretty hard time.

As an extremely experienced team like Brazil can quickly change their tactic to work against USA's defense. It's similar to a match once with Japan and Brazil, where Japan scored 2 goals and it looked pretty bright till the second half where they lost 5-2.

Any underdog who scares a team like Brazil for 45 minutes is a team with potential in my book.

Sure the USA has potential to be a good footballing side. They have a large population of people that generally can afford the time to do extra stuff (say unlike African countries and they produce "athletes". That is the USA's main strength at the moment, if they can develop players with guile as well then they will be able to compete.

However, on a player by player analysis, the USA are still pretty poor. Landon Donovan seems to be the only player with any hint of guile on the pitch, the rest are just very hard workers. Altidore looks a threat with his psychical presence and athleticism and he is still young but definately not a good player yet... just look what happened to the supposed boy wonder Freddy Adu. He warms the bench at Benfica.

I'm sure if more people watched it in America then I'm sure you would develop very quickly, then again if the first football match I was watched was an MLS game, then I'd never watch it again either... the standard and entertainment is utterly abysmal right now.
