URGENT!!! HOW DO I SAVE EVERYTHING??

There's another thread in the forum all about linux, check it out if you're interested. What you have is a hijacker in a pretty common style that infiltrates your computer and then tries to trick you into buying bogus anti-spyware software with legitimate looking system alerts and obnoxious shit like that background change.
Someone else already said this, but Lavasoft Ad-Aware should pick this up and get rid of it just fine. If you still have problems after installing that and doing a full system scan let us know, there is some other software to try and in extreme situations I can show you how to get rid of it by hand, it's gonna be a pain though. : )

Yeah sorry to say Norton borders on being a scam, it's a miserable piece of dysfunctional software that screws up your computer worse than most viruses. Ad-Aware is free though and it does a great job of picking up gray-area malware like spyware (though it doesn't look for viruses).
That practically takes an expert to do on its own :/ But yeah get rid of Norton and pick up a good antivirus. AVG Free Edition is really good for a free antivirus, you can grab it over at http://free.grisoft.com, just keep insisting you're sure you want the free one till the site finally coughs it up, which is a mini-game on its own (for people that make a free antivirus they are sure reluctant to let you download it).
You may have a tough time removing Norton if you're under the influence of malware currently, don't be surprised if the uninstaller fails to work. Try running an Ad-Aware scan first to get rid of it before you do anything else, then download and install AVG then remove norton if you can get things to work in that order so you don't have any gaps in protection. Also, make sure Windows is up to date, a lot of these things work on exploits that get fixed in updates.
