I think you can get a download here. I can't actually figure out Dark0's file upload thing :-/ If it's not working, try this. It might be a bit slow, and the link won't last forever, but between the two of them you should be able to get something XD
Currently the enemies don't move, but they will punch you in the face! So watch out.
Please report any bugs you find to me via PM or in the thread - Particularly points in the game which produce a lot of lag. Thank you ^^
NB It's now 8.30 in the morning and I've been working straight through from 1.30 in the morning. So if some things don't make so much sense, you know why
Strategy Revolution
Strategy Revolution was the name of the project I started months ago, (coming up to a year, actually), and have done extremely intermittent work on since then. However, if I can find time to script for a few evenings a week even, it progresses fairly quickly. You'll have to bear with me though, I'm writting all the scripts from scratch. Essentially, it is a Turn-Based Strategy Battle Engine, in the manner or Final Fantasy Tactics Advance, Advance Wars 1/2, Bahamut Lagoon etc. This game is essentially a vehicle to this battle system - there is a plot, honest, but we're not getting very far into it yet :thumb:
The main plot of Unity is pretty deep, takes place across several countries, involves extensive world history, etc. And I thought, "There's no way I'm going to be able to actually produce a finished game with this," So, I sliced and diced it and managed to map out the basic plot of the first game into two halves of roughly seven episodes each. This will constitute the first game, which I intend to be fairly short. If I can get that far, we'll see about delving further into the whole scenario
The initial phase of this production is essentially to get a succession of tech demos out, which will set the scene of the story and build up to the release of the full engine. Because of this, I'm going to release the next few portions as little chapters as I complete parts of the script. For instance, one of the scripts will be to conveniently carry savegames across XD The plot of Entrance is linked with, but does not play a particularly vital role in, the main story of Union. But I'm going to try to make it set the scene nicely
The basic story of Entrance is that the main character, Francois, semi-famous mercenary and smug wanker has been called in to save a bunch of villagers who's been kidnapped in the south-east of the country, way, way away from all the nice big cities you're used to. You go in some caves, meet some people, hack up some stuff, blah blah blah. Like I said, this part of the game is not going to be plot-driven
Entrance will not be story driven, obviously, but there are a few main characters to look out for.
Francois:This boy is like marmite. You either love him or you hate him. Except lots of people love marmite, because marmite doesn't talk back. Somewhat of an athletic prodigy at school, he and two of his friends immediately formed a mercenary's guild after leaving - the Red Dawn. He's described as prideful, arrogent, and selfish, but also as generous and loyal to his friends and/or clients.
Joy: Francois' friend for several years, she took him up on his offer to co-found the Red Dawn with him. Joy is the one person who can actually put him down - which she does as frequently as possible. Does something simmer between the two of them? Who knows? Certainly not Francois, who is as oblivious of her interest in him as she is of Lucian's in her. Her fiery temper is expressed by her use of fire magic.
Lucian: A quiet, reserved character. Acheived excellent heights both academically and physically at school, and has trained as a medic. He has at his disposal some speed-based offencive ability, as well as being able to use ice magic and healing magic. While perhaps admiring Francois for his outgoing, confident nature, he also allows himself to be driven mad by his antics. And perhaps there's some jealoucy present of Joy's interest in Francois - or am I just pointlessly shipping together my characters? No one's likely to find out any time soon because Lucian doesn't really talk about it much. Or anything at all, in fact. (Credit to Euphony for the sprite, btw).
Zola: :nya: Best described as eccentric, Zola is a mad mercenary who no one knows much about. This is not helped by the fact that no one can ever tell what she's saying, and the fact that I've entirely invented her character while writing this. So unfortunately there are currently no scenes with her in. But rest assured, there will be!
Solana: Some would say sensible. I would say - utterly dull. Uptight, obsessive, retentive... Armed with a great big lance... That's most of her personality, really. Suprisingly, she is in fact Zola's partner in (solving) crime. I'm unsure as to why I've just said this, because clearly they will drive eachother mad, (if either of them actually had any scenes at the moment...). But they are! In fact, Joy has met Solana in a previous encounter, somehow. But she won't talk about it. Probably they are lesbianz lol.
Dorian: A Francois fan-boy... At first glance. But look closer and you will see that in fact he keeps transforming into a fucking great big three headed dog. Now, that's not normal. The reason as to why he does this will become clear, (and no, I have not just made this up. It's actually a really important part of the plot :P) Anyway, he is Crystal's son and lives in the forest. He was not captured with the other villagers, for some reason, (suspicious eh?). Also, he tries to get some ghosts to kill you. But in a beautiful example of dramatic irony, Francois and co. don't actually know it was him, as he was in doggy-form at the time. Choke on that!
Crystal: In any village commune, there has to be at least one hippy. This is her. She's also a totally insane witch with badass powers. Who gave birth to a son who can turn into a dog. Wierd, no? If you ever get an actual scene with her in, (gimme a break, there are only three actual scenes so far), you will see what I mean.
Village people: These people are really crap. I'm laughing as I write this, but it's true. They totally suck. Despite spending most of their time training with things like scyths and pitchforks and lifting big organic weights to build up muscle, the buggers still managed to get themselves captured by a bunch of no-one-knows-exactly-what. In the caves, they are totally useless - weak and die easily. But there will come a time when they go insane and start trying to kill you, (I promise), and you will regret laughing then, because I've just decided that at this point they will become incredibly strong and powerful. Possibly with guns! So beware.

As you can see, when the a battler's HP goes to 0, it collapses into a heap. However, it can be revived. Attacking a collapsed battler is called "Finishing", and permenantly deletes it from battle. I'll probably make some kind of option to make battlers un-finishable if you don't like it that way. Also note that battlers which have acted turn grey
