I found a battle system, all I need is for it to be editted to fit the screen size... See script requests if you would like to help.

Also, the first village (unnamed) which is the hometown of one of the heroes.

Interactive/moving elements made so far are labelled. I want to make it as interactive and as life-like as Square make the FF games' villages.
 
I know nothing of Final Fantasy, but this game seems like it could be good.

You also seem to be a good mapper, so good luck with this.

BTW, love the orb thing.
 
I like this, looks quite intriguing. Can't really give any C and C everything here seems to be in place, so i guess all i can do is wish you luck.
 
Battle system progress

The battle system is almost complete!

The origional was by RaiseField. I editted it with my own positions and sizes, my own "BattleHud", and more, etc.

Here it is: (Unfortunately I forgot to add more characters to the Hud :p)

Edit: Ignore the title, that was the er... "Working Title".

Edit2: Also, ignore the fact that Eric, a Black Mage, is attacking with a sword. :)




I need your input...

I am removing the "time" part, as I am not having ATB in this game.

What could I replace the "time" bars with?
 
I love it! I love how tiny and compact everything is. It's like a wad of cash, it's so small, yet you would kill to get your hands on it... Alright maybe not 'kill'... Just eviscerate.

I love the graphics as well, theres nothing I'd change about it if it were my game. :)

Edit for input: Limit break or add a charge attack where you select 'charge' from the command window and then it gradually fills. When it gets to full, the character does a powered-up attack.
 
That is great, I'm happy for you. As for what to replace it with... Do you want spells to charge? Um... Experience? Both of those ideas... I don't like, I'm tring to think in the spirt of FF, Exp could pork, if you want to awad exp for every acton (Like FFT)
 
Battle Test Demo

This demo is just for the battle system. I finished it, pretty much. It also has parts of the menu system. Talk to the dude in front of you to enter a battle.

Controls

ENTER: Does actions.
ESC: Cancel, exit menu, open menu.
UP/DOWN: Select an option in battle, or in the menu.
LEFT/RIGHT: Choose your target.

I have given Eric seven skills to start with.

Update: ???

Similar to FFIX, when you walk past an important object, it tells you with a "?".

Also, you may notice... that's at the 50% size. Yay! I worked out a way to do it without a tilemap remake! Using pixel movement and "collision maps", it is now working as I wanted it to.





New title screen

Using Ccoa's Three Image Title Screen script, there is a new title screen. I actually remade the title screen, using a gradient, as I wasn't happy with the old one.

I made a new banner also for this thread which I am uploading and adding now.

@divine: The game screen is resized with Selwyn's Resolution Fix script.
@Brandonn: I had not worked out how to make them the right size at that time, and it is only to test the battle system.
 
Maybe you could get rid of the time bar, and make the limit bar longer. And space things out a bit more. I love the resized screen! I'd thought that the res patch could only make things bigger.
