UMS Skip thing (simple problem)

I know there is an option on the UMS so when you click a button while text is being displayed, it skips the whole thing in one.
I thought the skip function would do this, but it doesn't seem to.
I really would like this sorted, could anyone help?

Do you have it set to WRITE_ALL or WRITE_FASTER for the skip mode? And is skip mode enabled?
