Ubuntu 8.04?

I just got my copy of Ubuntu 8.04 (64-bit) in the mail last week andI was wondering if anyone has used it yet?  If so what your oppinion of it.  right now I havent tryied out my copy because my PC's proccessor is crap, and I got my copy for my new PC which will be dual running Linux and Windows.

I've run it on Virtual Machine on my Mac since my Linux box is stowed away- It's not all the different from the older versions of Ubuntu.

It's a little more noob friendly in terms of other releases of Ubuntu and other Linux flavors, so if you are a newcomer, this release should suite you well.

The other thing I've found, is this release does not automatically detect the existance of a Wireless card and ask to install restricted drivers.

Rai, I think it just depends on your wireless card.  It worked for my card, and asked to install the Restricted Drivers.

Works great. wine isnt bad either, but if your a gamer, you should probably do a dual boot install. Also had driver support for my usb wireless card, which is supprising because its an rt73 card, which only has a windows driver.
Only thing is to enable mp3, video support, etc ---> https://help.ubuntu.com/community/RestrictedFormats

I love it, i even have it on my iMac G3 :D
I'm planning on also installing Vista. Hopefully I have less problems with Vista than I do with XP, but then again I'm using SP1 on a 8 year old PC, so that in it's self might (and probably is the problem).  Can't wait for my new PC.

I've been running it for a year now with no complaints.  The initial learning curve is steep when you're used to a windows environment, but if you already know a bit about linux Ubuntu is about as easy as it comes and works well out of the box.  There are some complications with dual booting Vista, IIRC, if you ask me the easiest thing to do is install them on separate drives.  First install Linux on your primary master (or SATA port 1!), then unplug the drive physically when you're completely finished installing everything.  Next install Vista on another drive, installed on anything but the first sata port/primary master IDE port.  Then plug the linux drive back in, make sure its drive is the first boot device in the BIOS and set up a chain loader in GRUB for Windows (look for a tutorial online).

Im using it now and i think you were quite unstudied by not looking for ubuntu ultimate it is based on 8.04 but also has most of the packages installed :P

EDIT

Sorry if i made any offence to you

Calling someone stupid for not doing something you assume they should know to do is hardly constructive commentary or support. Try providing tips without condescension. ~N

Well, I'm running in on my PC now, and it's a jump from 7.10. I've got working WiFi, and the best part- ATI Catalyst.

It's mainly a build environment, but hey- I wasn't going to give up making it look like Aqua.

8.04 has Catalyst drivers?! How did I miss this? When did ATI finally decide Linux users were worth writing drivers for? That is SEXY

Edit: because I blew up my good NVIDIA card and all I have left is a GF4 :~( My radeon has been sitting in a box
