Ubuntu 10.04 LTS Updater issue

Hey,

I recently installed Ubuntu 10.04 LTS, desktop edition. I have not made any changes aside from installing Emerald.
Last night I started up the updater to make an update of something over 200 items. I left it to update over night. When I check on it in the morning, I saw that the internet connection was lost some part through (my internet is touchy). I reconnected it, but nothing happed. For the next hour, and still, the updater has been like this:

Now I don't know what to do. I don't want to shut down the PC because I'm afraid that Ubuntu will be corrupt, and I'll need to reinstall it all again.
Does anyone know what to do?
