Tutorial on Mutiple Tilesets in VX

Poccil’s Multiple Tileset Tutorial – by Celes_CliFF

Introduction:

I’ve seen in quite many forums around the net about people asking how to use multiple tilesets in VX. Many replies said that this is not possible, or that you can, but it’s quite complex to do. This is a step by step tutorial and will cover poccil’s system about how to use multiple tilsets, and show that this system is anything but complex. With this system, you can use your own tilesets from TileA-E for each map, which is more than you’ll ever need.

The files in the package are the ones you’ll need for this tutorial. It contains three tilesets. Rey_J’s 2k3, Macks and busbuzz XP tileset. It also contains the program, a demo, script and a pdf-file of this tutorial.

If you’re already working on a project and want to use this system, then just skip the first step in the setup section.

When you’re finish with the download, let’s begin:

Set Everything Up

1. Create a new project.

Now you got everything setup. Let’s go to the next section.

Using The Tileset Editor

First, I want you to make three empty maps in RMVX editor. Name them Map 2k3, Map Mack and
Map XP.

Save your project.

Now, lets talk a little about the TilesetEditor.exe, so open it up.

You notice that there are three option here. Let us first go to the second option, “edit tilesetâ€

Wow this is awesome!! It looks like it just overlaps what was currently on the tileset though not allows you to use more tilesets!

EDIT: Wait,I just tried it out and in the game it actually knows which map uses which tilesets!! I get how it works now awesome!! Im going to do this for my game!!
