I'm just going to shamelessly copy this from my behance project: http://www.behance.net/gallery/TU-Delft ... 11/1199389
So if you want you can look there instead of here.
Anyway, this is a poster/banner design I did for the Open House of the Technical University in Delft, The Netherlands. They wanted to visualize how big Maritime Engineering is, in a funny way, and connect it to the university itself.
During the first meeting we discussed a few options, but the one they liked best was that of an iconic building of the university being lifted on a ship, all in true sizes.
The building I shot was the Aula, perhaps the most iconic building the TU has. Originals can be found below.
The objective was to make the image as realistic as possible. However, when put to the test, people looked at it and thought it was just any other ordinary picture. I proceeded adding in some maritime calculations, and the name of the building. This was also very fitting for the overall theme of the Open House of the whole university.
Have a wallpaper download link too: http://www.tomasknipscheer.nl/stuff/Final.jpg
Here's without the formulae layer.

"They" decided to print it on canvas. Print was a little bit bigger than I had imagined, but didn't disappoint me in the slightest.
Detail of the building itself, zoomed in a bit.
