I think Hotshot was an orange race car. That and Hotshot was the one who was like a Transformer version of Mike from Ninja Turtles, lol.
Transformers has a complicated continuity. It's like Final Fantasy, there's about 12 different TF continuities at least by now. Hot Shot was only really in the last three cartoons, Armada, Energon and Cybertron, which were loosely related.
Bumblebee is from the original Generation 1, which ran to 1990, he was also in the early 90's Generation 2 then dropped out until the Movie. In all those shows, he was a young Autobot espionage / deep cover agent, specialising in advance scouting and information gathering. Hot Shot was more of a rookie who grew into a more senior role, he never had the defined role Bumblebee had.
Anyhow, switching off fanboy mode for now, great movie. Felt the pace was a little hard to follow in battles at times, the way things bounced about, but it was a very good film altogether. Solid action in the last part, and a good build up through the early stages. Could have used more Decepticons, granted, but the Movie Writers said themselves that this was the origin story and it was important to explain where all these robots came from and what they are before they brought in the big bads. Can't really argue with that thinking.

I dunno looks like a fun movie with lots of eye candy I'll prolly end up seeing it.
It is certainly that. I'm not a big movie fan (am a big Transformers fan) and I went to see it twice.
