Story
A man escaping the life and crime of the city moves into a rural trailer park in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia seeking a peaceful life until he comes across 3 tenants of Sunnyvale Trailer Park: Ricky, Julian, and Bubbles who are all working on their get rich quick and end the life of crime scheme "Freedom 35". Tempted by the idea you reluctantly offer to help Ricky and Julian and end up tossing yourself into an unpredictable, dangerous, and hectic adventure full of gun fights, car thefts, dope growing/selling, greasy films, and smooth talking your way out of going to jail. What have you gotten yourself into? Are you strong and cunning enough to evade police, take out the rival crew, and successfully accomplish Freedom 35?

Gameplay
The game play style of Trailer Park Boys is an open world action-adventure focusing on the criminal activity of trailer park tenants
The battle system experienced in Trailer Park boys is on-map (Blizz-ABS)
Features in game will include vehicle hot wiring and operation, smooth talking your way out of going to jail, drug dealing, drug growing (working concept.. don't want this to turn into Harvest Moon: Pot Farm), gun fights, and much more as the idea develops.
The game is inspired by the show of the same name; I'll be including lots of scenarios that the boys have already experienced in show only in an alternate setting with you being the one to do their dirty work.

Name: Rod
Age: 23
Gender: Male
Height: 5' 9"

Rod is the main protagonist of the game. He is trying his best to separate himself from what he does best but always seems to end up doing the exact thing he tries to avoid: criminal activity. Though aloof and arrogant, he is very loyal and caring for those close to him and will do anything for them (as seen in the game). His favourite pastimes include: smoking cannabis, smoking cigarettes, car hopping, drinking, hot wiring, dope growing and selling.

Name: Ricky
Age: 30
Gender: Male
Height: 6' 1.5"

Ricky is the boss of Rod, friend of Bubbles and Julian, Ray's son, Trinity's father, Lucy's on/off boyfriend, and the Park's main pot provider. He is known as a menace by the trailer park's supervisor Jim Lahey and an asshole by everyone else. He is a very crass and foul mouthed individual who frequently uses malapropism, and fumbles a lot with his speech (a byproduct of him failing grade 10 and extended drug and alcohol usage). He is unable to accept blame for things (usually placing blame upon his 2 workers Cory and Trevor), has a problem with authority, hates being told what to do, and is very disrespectful to those who he feels are being unreasonable. Though ill tempered, trigger happy, disrespectful to most, and every other character flaw he has, he is still a very loyal and caring man who wishes only the best for his daughter and on/off girlfriend and for everyone he considers family. His favourite word is fuck.

Name: Julian
Age: 30
Gender: Male
Height: 6' 1"

Julian is the boss of Rod, and the friend of Bubbles and Ricky. Julian is the more calm and educated one out of the group and preaches to Ricky about going back to school and reading more. He's the brains behind the entire Freedom 35 operation but is not as fast witted as Ricky when it comes to getting out of situations with the police. Julian is usually seen trying to calm Ricky down and getting him to focus on the task at hand; which he is successful in doing most of the time. Although he comes across as pompous and elitist, Julian is a very proud park tenant and loves everybody in the community.

Name: Bubbles
Age: 30
Gender: Male
Height: 5' 10"

Bubbles is the friend of both Julian and Ricky. He isn't a part of Freedom 35, but often finds himself helping out Julian, Ricky, and Rod with their endeavour. Bubbles lives beside Julian's trailer in a shed: a shelter he chooses to live in due to being abandoned as a child in a shed by his parents. This event lead him to his affinity towards cats as they are the only things that kept him company as a child. When he isn't being the caretaker of the park's stray cats he is stealing and fixing shopping carts from grocery stores to sell to other grocery stores to provide food for said stray cats. Bubbles is VERY protective of his kitties and will fight anyone who so dares cause ill towards them. Although a very gentle and moral person, Bubbles still enjoys messing around with Lahey and Randy and too involves himself in crime (though usually just petty theft).

I've been trying to study the map of Sunnyvale and it is FUCKING HARD. I'm now trying to figure out who lives by who in the show so I can at least make it slightly accurate, however, even that is getting confusing as shit (bubbles is the only character whose location I know.. right beside Julian's). I've also decided to incorporate some of season 5 into the mix as well as bits of season 3 since a lot of funny shit happens after Season 2 that could make pretty decent gameplay.

I'm extremely slow when it comes to progression (thank you ADD) so I apologise for the almost 1 year delay.

I've never seen it so have literally no idea what to expect... so kinda looking forward to playing it now.

Bit weird though but trailer parks here are much more upmarket and mainly inhabited by elderleyfolk, unless it's travellers... so it's kinda odd seeing American ones after my nan lived on one here lol. Much different crowd of characters.

The amount of hooligans depends on the location here, but you're guaranteed to have at least 1 alcoholic and 1 drug addict per trailer park no matter where it's located; Sunnyvale being shitty city (with Julian as muscular mayor).

Did a simple recolour and edit of the trailer, and to be honest I think I'm only going to make minor adjustments for hopefully enough diversity in the park's scenery since all the trailers look essentially the same. Most of the differences are in the lawn, so I'll be adding garden gnomes here and there with other of those stupid lawn ornaments EXCEPT for flamingos (The best thing about my videogame world is that lawn flamingos don't exist in it!).

Added the current artwork spoiler and will hopefully be adding a fair bit to it if my schedule doesn't interfere.

If anything using the same tile makes a statement, like you say the differences are what people have made of them - their lawn, interior, etc.

Trying to figure out how to indicate who is talking during cut scenes. I was thinking of doing something like this:

xGN1Mj4.png

but at the same time I feel like it's either too much or doesn't fit.. or that I don't have high hopes for the intelligence of the audience. Do any of you think that just a simple name plate over a character's dialogue is enough indication without verbal cues or physical cues? A lot of the dialogue in show has many different actions associated with it, such as leaning on things/looking dopey/looking around, so I'm nervous that it will just look like 4 characters standing around while text appears (outside of turning to look at characters and maybe...).

Edit: I just answered my own question. I'll try to add character faces alongside dialogue as well for facial expressions, and maybe a simple punctuation point like a ? when confused and ! when exclaiming over the head before a character's dialogue (and maybe a simple still-walk animation or something).

What the fuck is Bubbles doing?

Also, some kind of quick mouth movement could work, just a quick sprite animation of an opening and closing mouth, maybe a shuffle or something, I dunno.

I was thinking that as well, but then comes the question of characters who aren't facing forward (but I guess that's where the shuffle animation comes in to play).

Also this is what he's doing:

Universal Messaging System, like FF7. Text bubbles! BUBBLES!

Maybe have his arms move like in that video...Mannerisms befitting the bubbly one

Oh, I see. Yeah I'm probably going to do something like that, then. I was actually entertaining the idea of having the speech bubbles hover over the characters during dialogue but didn't think it would fit/fit properly. Thanks for the suggestion!
