'Torchlight' Script

In the 'zelda: a link to the past' game, when you are in the sewers below the castle you cannot see very far in front of you at all. there is a 'halo' of light around you, but mostly in front of you, and it moves when you walk.

I *think* i saw a script like this here somewhere, but i have searched for quite a while and can't find it.

Is it possible to do this, and does anyone have a script like it? I need it for when you are in a cave, to make the cave more challenging.

Thankyou very much

Jonathan

Wouldn't it be easier just to make a massive black picture with a small transparent hole in it that follows the guy around? If you want it to be bigger on one side, make four pictures, and change it based on what direction he is facing in. There is no need to use scripting for this, events will work just fine.

You wouldn't need a massive black pic, just one that covers the screen (640x480 pixels). Other than that, pidey's right. You could alter Scene_Map to use this script, but that would be kind of a waste of scripting space. Peace!

Stop making it confusing guys! It's simple. Take a screenshot of your charcater in game - full screen. Then make it the same way you would make a cosmetic fog, refer to the tutorials section for that by Fooflex.

Then just go about it the way pidey said. Make the map have a large border all thew way around ir, i.e have all the mapped area of map inside a border of a larger map, this means the picture won't mess up when scrolling with a charcater.

I have a circle of light system floating around here somewhere. It can allow you to transfer images or have circles drawn in ruby and supports events as well.

Check the Script Request section. Kraft posted the request topic. If you can't find it, let me know and I will dig it up.

That script looks to be just what i need, but since i am totally rubbish at rgss, where do you put the script in the database, and how do you call it (if you need to)

Thanks Seph,

Jonathan
