Sorry if this isnt my usual detailed and properly capitalized style. Im tired...

I need help with my explosive system. Its event based, cause I dont think i would need to script such a simple system.

Basically, you get explosives from a miner, you go to a site where it can be placed, and you lose one of the sticks of dynamite (If anyone has an Icon i can use, xD)then you have 5 seconds to run, before it explodes.
If you are still in the radius you get hurt. yes, i have a HUD, so you'll be able to know how much life you have.
I need to get the timer to show up on the screen, like in a corner or something, and countdown from 3. If i could get a beep or something with each passing number, that would be great.
I also need someone to tell me how to get something to happen(explosion) after the timer runs out.
Also, what is the most effective way of checking if the player is in the explosives range?

The thing is, that whenever i try to playtest, it won't work...
Idk why. Anyone else who has DLed it have any luck?
But, I will read through the event page, and try to learn from that.

-coughs- I hate using Timers...I can never get them to work (Now everyone knows my weakness. Gah!! -raises up fists and shakes them-)But what i would do is make the timer start and make a wait command (20 frames=1)
so have something like

wait= 20 frames
play bg"Beep"
wait= 20 frames
Play bg "Beep"
wait= 20 frames
Play bg "Beep"

then do that 3 more times

Oh, and your C-branches to check where the player is, Needs to be =<
 
Well...i gave up on the explosives...
Someone have any ideas on how I can get a system where random rocks fall from the roof, and every time they hit the player, he loses life?
would be fun in any cave, xP
 
Yeah i sorta realized that...
It would look like the rock is rolling toward you...

besides that:
I had an idea nonetheless. I want a shadow to appear, then a few seconds the rock "falls" (appears) there.

that way the player still has a warning, and it sorta gets around the view problem.

Btw, i dont think its impossible. I could do it if my game used Mode07, but still thanks for the reply.
 
-cough- You can get the shadow where the thing is going to fall, Then make the rock spawn, but make it where it only uses one frame, and just make the speed high, and make it a 'through' setting and the button where it is like "Event touches player"...I havent tested this(I havent even looked it up in RMXP), But it seems like it should work, you could give it a bouncing effect too.
 
It's impossible. In a tool like rpgxp, where you see the player from above him, you can't make a rock falling from the ceiling !

All he has to do is make a animation that makes it look like a rock fell from getting biger to smallerand then in the middle of that make a rock appear through switches in that spot before the animation disapears.
