I agree to an extent that you're freaking out way too much over some cops picking you up, but it's understandable. Police have a bloated image of 'big bad coppers' and it's understandable that you can be scared shitless when you deal with them. The last time I was dealing with a cop it was ask specifics on why my brother was arrested, and it's not like he threatened to kill me for not keeping my brother in check.

Personally, I dont think badly of cops. But when you're minding your own business listening to your mp3 player in class and two deputies walk in and cuff you and lead you away, wouldnt you be scared shitless?

All I will say is: if handcuffs were comfortable, it wouldn't really be bothersome to be handcuffed, so it wouldn't really be much of a deterrent at all.

I don't know much (or anything) about American geography, is Oklahoma anywhere near the place where the Virginia Tech thing happened? It's probably just the aftermath of that. I mean with that many people killed people suddenly realise how vulnerable places like schools are. (And then, horrible as it sounds, ten years later after security becomes more slack it happens again, like a vicious cycle).

Oklahoma and VT are nowhere near each other, but there's been a crackdown like that ever since Columbine and even before. The Tech situation just made it worse.

The main reason for handcuffs is to make sure you can't retaliate, not to act as a deterrent. (Otherwise why would they put your hands behind your back?)

I am normally the fearless type of person, and I personally am unafraid to take on a cop in a 1 on 1 situation, but I think what they did to Flame was a little on the harsh side. Then again, I recently got accused of doing something I never did: stabbing a person in the arm with a pencil. I got slammed with 3 days OSS, being the arrogant new assistant principal decided to believe the person who accused me of it. This same person is also the sister of someone whose family is having a feud with mine. Still, not as harsh as what those cops did to Flame...
