So now we've entered into October, making us one step closer to Halloween (yay! :boo: ) and winter (boo! :sad: ). Trees are changing, making everything vibrant colors. And I don't know about you, but the weather by me has been horrible the past week or so. The temperature took a nosedive and it's been consistently cloudy with occasional rain showers. But anyway, on to what's been going on at hbgames.org!
We have a few new members this week! Saphara is a combination of two people working on an RMVX MMORPG who joined recently. I hope you both enjoy your stay! We also have two returning members, swiftdeathsk and starFantastica, so welcome back!
There's a new completed game called Dragon Fantasy: Venaitura by EphiamOricuna. The game uses NES-esque graphics and music that all blends together very nicely. I've always liked the classic style, but I think my favorite part about this game is the gameplay. With touch encounters and an upgrade system that relies on items instead of leveling, this game is very interesting to play!
In the realm of projects in development, Dark Gaia released the first three chapters of Legionwood: Tale Of The Two Swords. I was truly impressed by how professional the game felt. Dark Gaia did a great job setting the mood with lighting and music and the gameplay is nice. I especially liked the Attribute Assignment System. I'm amazed by how much work went into the game and I definitely recommend it!
coyotecraft is working on an Underwater RPG concept for a month-long project. It looks like it'll be quite interesting, so stop by and give coyotecraft your opinions! :wink:
In the Game Development Discussion forum, Perihelion has started a great topic on how to improve your title screen! There are some good points brought up and you can post your title screen for critique, so I recommend you take a look! The title screen is the first thing people see when playing your game, so it's an important aspect to think about when making a game. I seriously found this topic helpful because I have no idea where to start when making title screens. ^_^;
Drago del Fato has posted a PointSpendSystem for RMVX. It's an interesting way to give the player some control over how your characters grow.
Dadevster is working on improving his skills in drawing portraits in his "I drew the walrus." thread in Visual Art Analysis. The stuff he posted is quite good, so take a look and give him some tips!
moog revived the Weekly Music Workshop, so take a look! There's a new theme for a great challenge and it's a great way to show off your skills.
moog also posted an album in Music Analysis, Originality, which features a variety of different styles. He's looking for feedback and honest criticism, so take a listen and help moog out!
Have you ever had a really weird dream? Perihelion made a new thread where you can post them! It's interesting to read what everyone's been thinking about while they sleep, so you should take the time to read them and post your own dreams.
Alexander Morou started a topic in The Symposium called IQ Tests: Useful or Useless? It's a good discussion about how valid and accurate IQ tests are as well as how you should define intelligence.
That concludes another TWODO! Well...almost. This is completely random, but I've noticed this guy hanging out around my house recently:
Alright now I'm done. :biggrin:
