THIS WEEK on HBGames.org
Rember remember the 5th of November
Gunpowder treason and plot
About some guy called guy or some shit
And lyrics to this song I forgot
But lo and behold it's rememberance week
Obama he made a big verse
About all the soldiers America lost
In a war that they thought they won first
But no, it was us, the marvellous brits
Who fought in the war that we won
With our own two hands, the Tommies did fight
And battered the dastardly Hun
Germany well, and I say it was swell
The good times which followed those years
All of the Germans they rotted in hell
The Americans just watched, bloody queers
And ninety years on or some shit like that
We remember the lives that were gone
And so, in this this week at HBGames.org
I wrote a poem I really oughtn't have done
Encore, encore
GAME MAKING
Project Discussion
The moderators are corrupt and are blagging their own games in the Twodo. Nah only joking. They wouldn't do that. If they did I guess they would say something like "Vengeance Online RPG, by Commodore Whynot, is an online game made in Game Maker which features working IRC chat".
Concept Development
Instead, you might want to check out Concept Development for the game "The Last Beginning", by deathbethecost. This is actually a really in-depth topic and I'm ashamed that nobody has replied to it yet.
Completed Games
How about an actual completed game, like Fantasy on Mother's Day, by Love?
Game Maker
The Game Maker engine has been a topic of focus this week with several topics made in it's respective forum. I personally plan to make several more tutorials over the next week explaining how to make an RPG in the system, as you can't do it "out of the box" but it is really quite simple. You might want to check out the following topics on the matter:
- Download, resources and links
- Tutorial: using PNG alpha channels / transparency
- DLL and scripts for making an online game
- Basic RPG movement (note: I plan to expand on this later, I have found better methods)
Destiny as a plot device
Perihelion has started a topic about destiny as a plot device which has sparked some interesting ideas and discussion.
Contests
Don't forget about the third Mapping Competition that Bacon is running, and of course the really quite massive official Five Years of .Org contest! $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
GENERAL DISCUSSION
The soul... what is it good for? Absolutely nothing! Come on y'all!
Lyric asks, what is the purpose of the soul? I would add "surely you need to have reason to believe it exists before asking such trivial questions, but that's just me
RAGE!!!!!!!
Perihelion asks, WHAT MAKES YOU RAGE???????????

Ad campaign - Kipe
Kipe's ad campaign is, frankly, fantastic. I wanna buy those pepper jellies now ~ (really, they're really good, check this shit out)
THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK
Stephen Hawking makes a good point. People argue for God saying that if we're such a random occurrance how come we've managed to be in the right position for life, and be in such a prime location on a planet with water the right distance from the sun? The obvious answer is: we're here to ask that. If we weren't here to ask that we wouldn't be in the right place. I.e. somewhere is the prime location for life in the Universe - we're there - and therefore it solves the questions we were asking.
Further onto this idea, scientist Ammarillo Jenkins suggests that HBGames.org is the prime location for game making life and that the fact we are here shows that - if we weren't here to say that then we wouldn't be in the prime location.
Sigmund Freud adds, "I would comment on this matter but I am dead".
His grandson, Clement Freud, adds "I am dead too," to which I add "RIP Clement you bastard, why did you have to leave us ;-; man you were amazing, as both a comedian and a politician, frankly you should have died a lot later even if you were 80-something ;-; and you Humphrey Littleton, why did you have to die!!!!!!!!!!! all the best people die!!!!!!! and nobody even knows who they are!!!"
