Thinking About It...

I was thinking about creating a forum...again...for RPG Maker, video games and all things electronic and I was wondering if I could get some advice...

1) What site is the best to create a free forum on? (www.forummotion.com, etc.)
2) How many staff members should I have just starting out?
3) Should I use a dark theme? Light theme?
4) Who from here would help me start it up and become members? (or maybe staff members)

Not trying to sound pessimistic, but making a forum for RPG Maker is not a good idea.

For one thing, there are already plenty of forums devoted to RPG Maker. There's Phanxgames, RPG-Palace, RRR Revolution, RMRK, this one, and more. They're already pretty big and have substantial memberbases, and yours would have an extremely difficult time trying to draw members from the other forums.

Not to mention that RPG Maker is a dying breed. Less and less people are using RPG Maker to make their games and more are realizing how inferior it is compared to other game makers. Less and less resources are being made for the programs, and while there's still a number of people who use the programs, many more are stopping.

My advice would be to instead of make a forum forRPG Maker, expand yourself and include all game makers. Don't limit the forum to just RM because you're doomed to go nowhere. That's not saying expanding to all game makers will make your forum an immediate success, but you're more likely to go places than limiting it.

1) There are no good free forum hosts unless you find a friend who'll host it and give you full access
2) You and an active buddy, just to keep it active while you get members. Don't get more mods till you have at least ten posts a day, it's pointless and makes the forum seem cheap.
3) Light theme
4) Dunno lol

So maybe make it for all game makers? Hmmm maybe I could try to look for newly created game creators and post a topic about it on my site.

Well if it gets a decent amount of members, maybe 50-100 members I would easily pick a site name a begin to host it through a site like GoDaddy or something.

After getting a good amount of feedback on creating a forum I decided to create one. WIthin a matter of hours I was finished and am quite happy with the result! Everyone please come and visit and lend a hand to get it up and running! My forum will be for all game creation programs!
