The Tekken Series

Hullo.

I just finished playing through Tekken 4 with every character; unlocked all the goodies and the special characters and so on.

I thought this was the best in the series so far. I um... have yet to play Tekken 5 or 6 mind haha! A tad behind. But nonetheless, I was impressed by the storyline and the style of fighting and so on. The graphics were also impressive for Playstation 2 era.

I have 1, 2, 3, and 4 for Playstation/2. I think 4 has been my favourite, 1 before that, and then 3. I didn't really get into 2 for some reason, I didn't like the characters much. Jun especially annoyed me, because whenever I fought against a girl they would always pick Jun, as Nina was the madonna character and Danielle? the annoying hippy.

Ive never been a huge fan of the Tekken games, as the combat is a tad clunky and the input seems to be off in some of the games. 3 is def my favorite, and 6 is great as well. Id still play Soul Calibur or something over them, but they are pretty solid games.

Also, not everyones played this game! maybe youd want to give some insight on what they are about? :)

Awesome Bro

To be honest, I thought Tekken went downhill after 3, I mean sure, I bought 4, played it, enjoyed it etc. but it just seemed to lack in certain areas, although the fighting was still spot on.

Tekken 5 was pretty meh, it wasn't too bad, and I only ever played online due to not liking anything else with it, and well, Tekken 6, that's just laughable in my opinion, it's just degraded itself so much, and they really need to do something drastic to bring the fans back.

I prefer Soul Calibur as a fighting game, although that's gone downhill too, Soul Calibur 2 will still be my favourite, whereas although 3 and 4 had character creation, their story modes lacked depth, and had near to no replay value whatsoever.

And do you mean Christie, the one that does Capoeira? She's pretty much the equivelant of Eddy, although you can play as him anyways, forgot how though, something about pressing a different button when you choose her? o.O

Eddie and Christie were ever so annoying. I couldn't stand to play as them or against them. The whole "helicopter legs" move and all that. Whenever I played someone they would tap X, so on their hands, and just spin around for the rest of the match and inevitably win.

Tekken 6 was my favorite A few new characters a scenario mode weapons for brian i much prefer it to soul caliber
But as for the Capoeira people they are terrible.

And as if anyone cares but to play as eddy you press Triangle

I was impressed there was a storyline, but I wasn't impressed by the storyline. It was sort of tagged on at the last minute. But then it is a fighting game so ~

I have 1, 2, 3, and 4. 2 is pirated and so plays in black and white on my PS1 :p

I think of all of them, Tekken 1 was my favourite. 2 was pretty decent. 3 I only have in a "collectors edition" demo form :p so you can only be Ling Xaioyu or Eddie Gordo. Er... ok so it was good gameplay wise but I don't know anything outside those two characters haha.

I liked Tekken 2, not so fount of 3.. Hated 4.. haven't touched 5 or 6.

I prefer Soul Calibur above it any day (especially 2 or 3) or Guilty gear but thats 2D fighting so something els..

I absolutely hated 6 :x The storyline became even more pointless and the combat became clunkier. Combos became more important than character style. For example, playing Grapple Jin over Spinning Jin no longer matters, as combos are easy as Hell to pull off now.

If you think Eddie and Christie are bad, just fight a Law player who knows what they are doing.

If Law gets a flip kick combo started, it is game over. You cannot escape it - literally. You're just SoL. A fight with law is just one giant blockfest until someone gets a hit in. The first person to hit wins the match.

Eddy/Christie's a favorite among some of my friends. It's easy to understand why- just tap X and O alternately and you could probably beat anyone. I only actually bothered learning how to play Tekken at 5, where I learned to play Asuka (I can also play a bit of Jin, Hwoarang and Feng). What I've learned from fighting an Eddy/Christie player is to just keep far away. Their combos usually have huge luls in between them which is the only time you charge in. Hopefully you beat them down enough for them to not be able to launch another string of combos. On the other hand, for players like Paul and Law I prefer charging recklessly and hoping I don't give them any breathing room at all. I'm no tournament player, but it's worked plenty for me in house parties/wireless fights so far.

My God, you're right Law is absolutely the worst when he just backflip-kicks you to hell and back. I found that most in Tekken 3 and 4 though, didn't notice it so much in the other games.

I completed Tekken 4 rather easily. It didn't need any skill and button mashing seemed to work (which is my play style ^^); I did not have to CONTINUE? once.
