The Stellar Adventure of Chris Adams

Well, I'm relatively new here, but I've been messing about with RPG Maker XP for quite a while now. I have the idea to create a point-and-click RPG based on a little sci-fi story about time warps and stuff I created. The tone of the game will mostly be set in the same lighthearted look at sci-fi that Douglas Adams used.

Do you think this an interesting concept worth going through with?

Oh, and if anyone is willing to help out with any type of resource, that'd be much appreciated.

Ok. The mere fact that you mentioned Douglas Adams type humour makes this an auto-win in my book. <3 And I'm always up for a good sci-fi yarn.

Yeah, you're gonna have to flesh out this topic a lot more. Generally topics in Concept Development contain much more information, and seeing as you've only got a basic idea going on (as far as I know) perhaps it would be a better idea for you to post in The Quick Ideas/Concepts thread?

Well, here's a little more information to flesh out the idea a little bit.

STORY

You are Christopher Adams, an executive at some sort of company. I dunno. All around you, people are losing
their jobs, and you begin to fear that you may become unemployed.
As the days pass, more and more people, friends and colleagues, begin to disappear. You become increasingly
paranoid about your job security, and the threat of your wife having to work extra hours looms over you like
a dark cloud.
So when you find a dollar lying on the floor of your office one day, you decide to use it in the vending machine
in the hall. Imagine your surprise when you are sucked into a warp portal and transported to the furthest reaches
of the universe!
Upon this strange world, you meet with the Old Ones, builders and rulers of the universe. They are not as healthy
as they once were, and cannot deal with a rising threat personally. They planted the mystical dollar on the floor,
so that they could bring you to their world and tell you of the danger.
A young up-and-coming space-faring race called the Hirans have managed to create a Time Warp that can transport
them into any point in history or the future. They wish to reconstruct time as they see fit, causing the elimination
of the rest of the universe in the process.
The Old Ones grant you with an alien sidekick, an Illierean by the name of Ali. The Old Ones give you specific
instructions: UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES SHOULD YOU ENTER A TIME WARP. They are unstable and could collapse
at any moment, leaving you trapped in the darkest reaches of the past or the grim darkness of the future.
It is now up to you, Chris. Do not fail.



Oh, and if anyone could create some tilesets based upon a few different things for use in the game, that would be great.

Tileset for Hiran planets: http://hosting04.imagecross.com/image-hosting-09/3332portal904.jpg Somethign similar to the Aperture Science Labs in Portal. Will also need a large Time Gate (similar to the StarGate), but in active and dormant modes.

Umm... that's actually all I can think of for now.

Sorry for bumping, but I began work on the game and fell into a trap of not having any good tilesets that could be used for the modern office interior. If anyone could help with this, it would be very much appreciated.
