BTW do you need any custom music for this game?
 
Hey thanks!  I've been relying on RTP music as it seems to fit pretty well more often than not, but I might run out of it before I get to the end, so I'll give you a holler if so.

This looks very cool and unique, but... You're mapping is terrible. There are some mapping tutorials on site, and just a little improvement could make this look a heck of a lot better. The concept is new and refreshing, and even though the art isn't stellar, it looks consistent, and that is really what matters. The battle system looks fun. This entire game (sort of) reminds me of Exile: Ruined World or something along those lines. Don't be insulted.. I love those games.
 
Sorry for the late reply; I've been on vacation all week.

Can you be more specific on the mapping?  Is the layout confusing, or are the tilesets not varied enough?  Basically, I'd like to know if it's aesthetics or mechanics that I should look at first.
 
Just a harmless bump that version 1.09 is out now (even though I promised not to do this again until Chapter 2 was finished).  The main change is that your characters' regeneration rates now have an effect in battle as well, and not just outside, which adds yet another layer of strategy.  To compensate, enemy attacks will do more damage as well.

Screenshots from Chapter 2 available soon, with the actual playable section hopefully done by April.  It has two new playable characters, a new city and hunting area, and several new quests, and overall I think it feels a lot more polished and progressive than the first chapter.  Fewer "Kill X" quests, and more variety - actual patrols, timed ambushes, escorts, and other fun stuff.
