The Purpose of Government in Rpg's

Also communism != China, Stalinist USSR and North Korea & != evil

China is capitalist. They can bullshit all they want, but they have a millionaire made every 5 minutes- pretty damn capitalist.

North Korea is a simple dictatorship. There's a government in charge, under communism such a body cannot exist. Same with Stalinist USSR. Communism sees that people are inherently good and will naturally order things amongst themselves- indeed Communism is far similar to a Direct Democracy than a dictatorship, and such a system would make it far more "fair" (as democracy is seen in the modern world) than any current country's system.

So, y'now, don't say that communist countries are totalitarian and evil. Such a thing is said largely by (not a stereotype, it's fact) American citizens who are largely uneducated in the actual fundamentals of democracy and communism.

It's too bad that countries like North Korea, China, and the former USSR show that communist countries are some of the most totalitarian and evil countries in existence. :)

I'm also willing to bet that you can't name a single RPG where you overthrew an evil kingdom that was all about people owning their own businesses (that's what capitalism is, in case you had some mistaken idea of what it was about). In fact, all evil kingdoms have a tendency to you know, oppress the people they take over, very similar to communist countries.

Also, communism != socialism.

Also, communism != Communism.

@Diedrupo: Every RPG has shops....Therefore I expect all RPGs are capitalist.

Also, we are all making mistakes here. Capitalism is NOT a political system. It is an economic system which has a BEARING on a political system.

You can't really tell that what we had in USSR, North Korea, Cuba, and so was really communism. That was only the Communist Party dictatorship (it's not the proletarian dictatorship too). I don't remember the expression Marx used to define communism, was something like "people contibute with their capacity and receives according to their needs". It's something that would only work with elves, but not with humans. Some marxists would disagree and say that people are individualist because they were raised in an individualist society, and if people are raised in communism they would not wish money and power.

I believe you think like that because you don't recognize what holloway says: "Capitalism is NOT a political system. It is an economic system which has a BEARING on a political system". You can point out in the history some capitalist dictatorship, that meant harm to people rights (most of them blaming people of being communists). We had many in Latin America (two here in Brasil), and some fascists in Europe (Hitler, Mussolini).

Not true... There are markets outside capitalists economies. Basically, the capitalism is based in the labor market. In capitalism, people are selling their own work force. So you can say that an economy is capitalist if the work used in the production is bought with a monetary wage. It's not really that, it's a lot more complex, but I will not start the discussion about what's capitalism here.

I would say most of (medieval/fantasy) RPGs are feudal, but not sure because little or nothing of the produtcion cycle is explicit in the games.
