I've been wondering where these words and attached sentiment actually originated. Squee itself I think I picked up from girls being superduper girly and excited about something in WoW, and have used since. But I'm not sure how the word sound came be to associated with excitement. If it's from SQUEAK, well, do people usually squeak with excitement?
...actually, that does sound familiar. Is that a saying? To squeak with excitement?
BAWW itself - which I've pronounced as "Bowww" - I thought my fiancee and I invented ourselves. In particular, I thought I invented it when talking to my birds! As in, "Awww, don't be boww, birdie, it's okay."
Somehow from there it went to "aww, the face of bowww" and turned into a reference to the Face of Bo from Doctor Who...
But I see it in use on the forums! So it must've been around since before then!
Is it derived from bawl?
