The Legendary Hero: A Journey Reborn [New Demo v1.8 Added]

Huh? I'm not taking any type of style or dialogue from the MMBN series. I only own 1,2 and 5 (DS version).

I prefer anime to a realistic style to my drawing, my style. That's why I'm practicing to improve myself.

Plus this is my game, I'm going to go the direction I want for this series.

Don't put loading screens unless they take at least five seconds or longer. Otherwise, it's pointless.

The Loading Screens are 5 - 6 seconds long. However I'm going to use the Loading Screen for a trailer I'm going to do for this game, as an introduction to the video.

Oh yeah, I forgotto say that I plan to:
*Remake the Title Screen, it will have Chris laying on the ground while leaning onto a tree with a sunset background. His left hand will have the Red Crystal symbol as and fade off images of Shade, George, and the VirusMonster in the background too.
*Remake the Chapter Cards, they will no longer be black background and be more detail with some pictures in the background with updated fancy text.

Practicing anime won't make you any stronger as perspective and anatomy goes. People who learn everything they know about how to draw the human body wind up horribly gimped in that regard -- first get an idea of anatomy, then you can draw however you like.

Plus this is my game, I'm going to go the direction I want for this series.

Then why ask for critique at all? If you don't need input, I can close this for you if you like.

Also, the mmbn thing is based on your incredbily prolific use of the word "virus" where it doesn't make much sense and your general tendency towards dramatic exclamations in the heat of battle.

What I meant was that I'm going with the Anime-like Style for my series. That's how I planned it from the beginning. I was thinking you were asking me to remove the Anime style I chose for this series. And I plan to have it have both light and dark moments in the game.

Sorry for misunderstanding.

Plus I do take from Real Life and apply it to my drawings and look at my hands and such to get a rough idea how to draw some body action for punching, holding, waving, etc.

Uh.. dude, that's for my "VirusChris" manga project. You do know anything about that series and is completely different from the MMBN series. I had the ideas for the viruses mroe than 6 years ago old! It's more action and adventure and based on the DBZ, Naruto, and Bleach series for their action and adventure.

it's generic.  not the WORST i've seen on this site by FAR but still has a lot of work needed.

- your art is improving over time, reading the thread shows this but you still need a bit more practice.  you're on the right track, just keep goin
- the screenshots are horrendous, your mapping skills are fine but you need to do something about those tilesets they look like they were mspainted.  and if you're going for a mspaint STYLE then fine cool but you have to make sure the sprites etc match that, and using rmxp RTP edits doesn't.
- lol loading screen

It does lean a little towards KH... But oh well.

I love your artwork and tilesets, I like that MS paint style. Imo you should keep that "chibi" style for your characters and don't draw them like full fledged anime characters like on that cover. But your choice.

Keep it up.

Oh, regarding the MSPaint style:

if you're going to go with a cartoony saturated style, you can't have that and maps made with the RTP,since the two things are incredibly different-looking. Graphical inconsistency is one of the things you should try to avoid in a game, since it'll bug a lot of players while they're actually playing.

Well the KH series did inspire me a bit when making this series.

You know about my Chibi style sprites? o_0

I am thinking of switching to my own style for TLH2 and TLH3. So you want me to switch over to my Cartoonish style? Going to take longer to get my game out, but it would save me time to making Maps for TLH2 and 3.

Fix the hair, don't pillowshade, and use more contrast in your palette and shading -- that includes don't gradientshade. That sprite needs a lot of improvement if you wanna use that style in your game, and I'd suggest making an RA thread or something to get critique on it.

Well the KH series did inspire me a bit when making this series.

yes the ECHO things only look a LITTLE BIT like heartless.

Yeah like the style on the loading screen really. I like that style more then the sharp-looking anime stuff.

Pillowshade? I think the hair is fine, it's suppose to be lighter on top. What do you mean Gradient Shade?

Actually the ECHO isn't based on the Heartless, that came much later in the series originally they didn't exist. When I imagined a new enemy to fight in the game, that little guy pop'd in my head. Though the ECHO does look like a Heartless.

Sharp-looking Anime? I'm not sure what you mean by that.
But thanks! ^_^

Hmm... I got a lot of work to do. >_>;

The hair isn't the major issue with the pillow shading, and perhapspillowshading was the wrong word; there's not much shading, but most looks like it was made with the Gradient tool on Photoshop (the face.) Use a palette with more contrast between the different shades, for one thing, and for a few more...

1: The kid's hair is ridiculously huge, you should tone it down (this applies to both your drawings of him and the sprites, actually.)
2: His arms seem awfully short. Or he's doing the Fonzie "eeeeeh!' pose. Either way, you should make his arms longer -- on a human being, the wrists should be at about pocket-level.
3: Actually, I was gonna say something about your really saturated palette, but you're also going very saturated for tilesets and that sort of thing, so as long as you don't use it with the RTP you should be good. Nevermind!

Just some news of my RPG project.

- The Legendary Hero: A Journey Reborn "RPG Project"

Currently I'm putting this project on hold for sometime. Plus there's a few things I like to add that is going to be added or changed to the game:

*The game's appearance will no longer be the RTP-style and I will use original cartoonish-like Tilesets as I did with the first map of the game.

*All characters, both PC and NPC, will have the Chibi-Style Appearance for their sprites.

*Instead of the Front-View Battle System with Battlers, or Pictures for Characters, the Battle System will be 2D Side-View Animated Battlers. However currently upon it's first release it will be Front-View Battle System with Battlers. The Side-View Battle System will be for added after some testing.

*The Anime-like Cutscenes will be re-done with updated looks and a few Animated Cutscenes.

*Mini-Games will be adding, one is a 2D Racing Mini-Game and the other a type of Mini-Game.

*The Guild Missions will award the Players with Rare and Expensive Items and EXP

*DC and Tiff's names will be re-nameable.

Here's an example about the updated Anime-like Still Cutscenes will look like with my latest artwork.

Ami Rozu:

This is Ami Rozu, who will appear in TLH2 and 3, and the drawings will have this level of drawing.

You know if you keep adding all these changes the game is never going to be finished. I mean adding little tweaks and new features is cool and all but don't go overboared. I mean you're planning on changing the sprite style, tileset style, and you're redoing the battle system to side-view characters which tells me you did those battlers for nothing. Just keep going with what you were originally doing. I think it's good the way it was.

OK, the RPG Maker XP version will have the Battlers and RTP-style for now.

However another version, which is going to be re-made with a different Game Making program.

The only difference between the two are:

*RMXP version has Front-View Battle System and RTP-style layout

*Another Game Making version has Side-View Animated Battler Sprites, the Chibi Cartoonish-style layout, Weapon Level-Up system, New Victory Screen, and new Battler Icons on the Battle Field.

All the story elements, including the new ones I'm going to add, will be in both versions. However the another Game Making program isn't out yet and the beta I heard will be coming soon, so until then only the RMXP will be avaliable.

Sadly the other Game Making program doesn't support MP3 files due to legal issues.

Also I'm thinking of asking my friend from Sweden to make some original music for the game, and I'll be asking him to create a new Title Screen music.

This game actually doesn't look too bad, which is surprising given the Cliche title.

If I were you, I'd stop using RTP anywhere and replace it with your bright cartoony graphics. They actually don't look that bad.

Good luck on your game
