The Legend of Erthia Tactics Demo 3.0 Almost Released

As many times as I try to remake this project,

I think I have finally come to the final version.

The Legend of Erthia Tactics

Current Demo Build: 2.0
Version 3.0 coming soon!

Demo Features:
- Over an hour's worth of gameplay
- Might and Magic like skill system
- An arena to gain combat experience and gold
- Three main battles
- Overworld combat map
- Resting feature

Plot:
The story begins in Felicia, a city that holds a dark secret. The king has sent four of his heroes to help defend the city against an invading enemy force. After resisting the invasion, the heroes set out on a journey to seek and destroy the one who caused the attack. As the story progresses, a lost secret slowly becomes resurrected.

Main Idea:
The game is strictly going to revolve around battles. Each battle will be long and challenging. The type of system I will be using is tactical based with Ultima 7 and might and Magic like formulas. Any character can learn magic, but the circle level of spells is limited only to their intelligence. Any weapon can be equipped to any character, but you will need to find the best strategy for each battle if you want to succeed. Monsters range from giant rats to angels and demons.

There are many weapons and armors that can be collected around Erthia. Sometimes a dagger can be just as good as a two-handed sword. Daggers are swift and light while two-handed swords are large and slow. It all depends on the battle in which equipment you will find best to use.

The characters will be one of the best parts to the game. There will be a lot dialogue to help make the story come to life.

The goal for this game is to bring back the good old days of CRPGS.

Very interesting project! The battle system is very good and funny. Also, the mapping is very good IMO.

Great sprites :)

I hope this comes well.

Thanks,

I should have an updated demo out within the next few days. I have added an arena to help earn gold and exp before fighting in the larger scenes of the game. The arena will revolve around how strong the party is. The higher the level of characters, the tougher the monster will be. So far I tested the new areas. The updated demo will bring about 1 hour and a half worth of game play as compared the the first demo. I have also added a rest feature to the game. In dungeons if your near death you can choose to rest to heal your hp at the risk of a random encounter.

I love how this looks!

FE fan, so this rocks for me XD

I haven't seen any real amazing rmxp tactic games yet, but this looks very good, good luck, your working great so far :D

I'll give the demo a try tomorrow, but downloaded.

No i meant all the sprites are smaller then the houses, like ther too small its like an ant compared to a human

I was going to re-size them, but I decided to leave things as they are. If you look at some rogue-like games, you will see what I am trying to do.

Your sprites lookway to small compared to the buildings and what not...

I tried this out the night I downloaded it actually, I just had to leave town, anyways, the script doesn't feel like theres been much mods, but since your using sprites that'll position like FE with no difference in direction, you should really take that out.

the sprites arn't all that bad, but the mapping could use quite a bit of work.

the difficulty was pretty high, but not completely impossible, I liked it, but it moves WAY to slow, if you could work with the script a bit to adapt it for yourself, it'll be alot better, and maybe some custom maps, using rips would be fine so that the rtp doesn't clash with your character sprites.

Thanks for the feedback. In regards to the mods. I have some work to do with the actual tbs script. What I have done is created a custom formula for battle damage and the skill system. Originally the basic attack is attack - defense. It now uses the armor class system similar to games like dnd and might and magic. Same with the spells. You have to build up your skill in a certain area of magic, or else it will have a greater chance to fail casting. In regards to mapping. I think I am going to cut out the dungeon exploring and just stick to cities and combat. I do have plans to take out the direction after using the wait command. I just have to figure out how to do it. Sometimes the combat can seem slow, I am tryign to limit most combats to smaller maps. Only the main combats will remain having the larger maps. That should speed up things a little. I also decreased the enemy's thinking time by 1/3. By the next demo there should be more improvments.

Anyways, thanks again for the feedback.

I can just say I admire your project...
The icons are just my style dude! No more anime icons yay!
However there is one thing:
Legends is a very common name, TOO common I must say...

I REALLY ENCOURAGE these types of projects,
can I work with you?

This looks very good. I love this kind of gameplay ever since I played final fantasy tactics on PS1 (the only final fantasy I was into besides VII) and metal gear acid. I'm giving it a download now. All the graphics look great including the menu interface. Those mountains are sexy too.
