The Last Summoner Title Screen [Maybe WIP] (VA)

Jason

Awesome Bro

Hello everyone, I've finally managed to make a title screen and logo for my game, and wanted to see what you all think of it, here is a screenshot of the title:

Please note it's mainly the Logo I need feedback on, as simple as it might be, I think it looks good, and the background is just, well, there for no reason, but if enough people here like it, I'll keep it how it is.

Thanks :thumb:

Wow, You could be better then the SyphonShiftZenrdy Team! Well, It's pretty good. The only problem I see is that the fire or spiny fire thing should be kind of blended in with the gray and black background. Keep up the good work!

Umm, you don't know what a Logo is ? *looks confused*

The logo is the picture with the words THE LAST SUMMONER and the purple thing behind it.

I can't say I like the logo to be honest.  If I just saw it I wouldn't pull it up but as you're looking for comments.

I do like the level of detail in the energy ball thing, but the typography is pretty nasty.  The colour isn't either complimentary or nice, the font doesn't seem to reflect anything samurai and the positioning could be made better.  Use things such as stroke outline by all means too, but make use of it rather than use it just because.

The background looks kinda psychedelic rather than like fire.

A logo should be representative of the central themes and ideas of the game, I'm not sure exactly what the purple ball has to do with anything.  A logo can be very simple and straightforward but it should never be generic or non-evocative; it needs to at least in some subtle way suggest what your game is; it's a symbol.  So unless your game is all about big glowy purple balls, I'd rethink it.  The obvious choice for a game about a summoner would be perhaps a summoning circle or maybe a silhouette of something being summoned or something, but that need not be the case.  Choose something that is representative of the theme of your game, the story you want to tell, and it will be much more effective than one representative of the setting.  Squaresoft's logo designs are almost unilaterally awesome - Chrono Trigger's logo is the time gauge so central to the game's time travel, Final Fantasy 6 is a silhouette of Terra in Magitek Armor, Final Fantasy 7 is the meteor, etc.  They encompass the entire story and central idea of the game in one simple icon.  Look to things like that for inspiration.

The background, just some generated fractals.  They're really neat fractals, mind you, but obviously very generic fractals.  It's hard to say much about them :)

I can see the background's an effect easily generated by a program, but I guess it works.

As for the logo... it's very bland. Unless that purple circle has a really big influence on the storyline, I would recommend changing it to something else, like Nphyx said.

I felt physical pain and torment looking at that title screen. Good god. Generated fractals, badly stroked text, and a purple circle with a pattern overlayed on it. Good job. I know it's a moot point since you're banned, but sweet fancy Moses.

Okay everyone, since Despain HAS A GIAGANTIC AND FLAVORFUL PENIS

The background, I said it was there for no reason I was just messing around with filters.
The purple ball in the logo was meant to be a purple orb with like, electric or something inside, I didn't really give off that effect, eh ?, I think I'm going to redo it anyway, unless someone wants to help, lol.

Julia Fractal from Paint.NET am I right? It's a relatively new feature that is becoming a bit overused; however if you are looking to make flames in PDN, then use the brushes to whip some red shapes up, then overlay with semi-transparent oranges and yellows and others until you see it looks right.

It's okay for a title screen, I like the way you can have bonuses.

Lol Despain, nice way to lie to cover up your shame, haha :thumb:

Can anyone suggest any way to make some nice flames ? I'm thinking of making the top ones like an orangey red, and the bottom like an ice blue neon colour.

I don't thinks it's all that great. It just looks very amature, in my opinion. You don't have the best choice of colors either. I thinking about opening my title screen business back up again...I'm tired of seeing really bad stuff.

Please, for the love of God, redo this. This site will teach you how to use Phtoshop and some other apps like, well, like they're not MS Paint.

Between this and your main character's sprite, I want to play your game just for an excuse to reenact the conclusion of Oedipus.  :brow:

For a start, I didn't use MS Paint for this, I used Paint.NET, Their two completely different programs.
And if you didn't read the quote you added... I even said:
"I think I'm going to redo it anyway"
