The greatest and worst memories of Gaming

Have you ever experienced a great (or really horrible) momment in gaming, weither inside a game or not? Here, we can tell of the greatest (and worst) memories in gaming, weither you died on Dragon Quest and lost all of your gold, or your data was corrupted after completing Final Fantasy VII with all weapons.

I've got a great one I always tell people about:

Metal Gear Solid (the original): Battle with Sniper Wolf (the first one, after Meryl gets injured).

It was my first attempt at the fight, and I was kind of sucking it up. She had about half her life...and I had one bullet left. I thought I was screwed. Especially since I had no more of those pills to steady my hand. I figured "well, might as well just fire this last bullet and wait for death."

I aimed, hand shaking and everything, and fired. Nailed her right in the head...her entire life bar goes down. I won.

That kicked ass.

Worst: I got all of my games + an xbox360, a psp and a ds stolen last month.

Worst in game: Uh... Probably just a combination of every time in Final Fantasy Tactics where I lose a battle by missing with 95% hit rate 6 times in a row. Oh also the first play-through mistake of just playing through and then reaching Wiegraf, getting stuck, and having to restart the game.

Best: Halo 2 online, I killed the whole other team (4 guys) with a flaming hulk of warthog on accident. It didn't make much sense, but it was pretty awesome.

Best 1: I never bothered to fight the Ruby Weapon in FF7 because of all the horror stories i heard about him (okay, i tried a couple of times, but nothing serious. Just for fun type of battles). But I got bored one day and decided to try something (after learning about Hades + added effect adding status immunities on enemies). I used it and it put Ruby Weapon in STOP. I was like 'hmm... well, if I use Knights of the Round, he uses ultima... but what if he is in STOP?' and yep, he didnt use ultima! So i had two others with mime and just kept mimicing it. Never hit me once~

Best 2: I couldnt get past the... blue dragon, i think it was, in Lunar 2. I went over to my friends to show him the game and went to fight the boss again. Everyone ended up dying EXCEPT Lucia; the ONLY character who you couldnt control. Now, she had about one more turn before she was going to die and my friend said 'that would be funny if her next attack killed him'... which it did... that was the sweetest close to death win for me!

Worst: When i thought 'leveling up is a good thing!' in FF8 and leveled to level 100 on the second disc and realized i couldnt beat ANY boss... i couldnt even beat the GFs to get more powerful... that was a sad sad day...

-coughs- Uh I think this is a good one. On GTA:SA when you got to fight that one asian dude with the swords I just chopped his head off with one swing o.o;;

Worst..I would say Getting to the second disk on "Mr. Bones (On sega-saturn)" with my cuz (o.o I was like 5 xD) and then his parents made us turn it off and we didnt have a memory card x_X;; So we had to start all the way over..That sucked....

The best: On Zelda: The Minish Cap, I had to go to this "battle simulation" place where you had to win a battle to get a piece of heart. The guy throws me in this room with 4 of an enemy that was previously "medium" difficulty for me, 4 of an enemy that was previously "hard" difficulty for me, and four I couldn't even kill with my sword. Somehow, I managed to kill them all, only losing half my life in the process. (And since it was a simulation, I got all my life back! I think...)

The worst: Today, I was playing Zelda: Oracle of Seasons, and was in the eighth dungeon. It took me forever to get to the mini-boss. As you may or may not know, if you beat the mini-boss, a portal appears that lets you come back to this point if you die or save. I died. I have to start all over. :(

Worst: When I was first playing FF7 against my first time against Sephiroth, last form. I had a character doing a mega-elixir, Seph confused me, the mega-elixir was used on Seph instead, leaving me pretty much almost dead. (Still beat him though, but still.)

Best: Beat the last boss of Xenosaga III with 2 hits :D Doing all the side quests makes things so much easier!

Best: I was playing Halo 2 at a LAN party and I switched to the Pink team to be cool, but the Pink team was like "Dude, you're not cool enough to be on the Pink team!" Well, I stayed on the team anyways and helped Pink win with like 30+ kills (it was first to 50 kills, btw). They forced me to stay on their team the rest of the night. :)

Worst: My friend Jonathan convinced me to play a Dragon Tales game (Dragon Seek, I think) on the grounds that it was so stupid it was funny. :| Five minutes into the game, I seriously felt like commiting suicide, although I settled with just turning the Playstation off.
NEVER, under any circumstances, play that game. EVER.

Best: "Playing" Metal gear Solid Online.

Worst (2): Getting all but 3 missions done on FFTA and finding out i got rid of the one item (which there is only one of) needed to beat those missions. Also, all the MGO servers where shut down.

Worst/Best: Final Fantasy 7. I bought it for the PC and was playing it and it crashed.

A lot.

I couldn't figure out what was wrong. I tried everything from new graphics card to new RAM... I limped through that game in low res for several weeks, saving every possible second. I couldn't even get through one of the boss battles at Red 13's village because I'd crash halfway through the battle. There was much screaming and cursing.

Finally one of my friend suggested taking the cover off my computer. I figured "Why not? I've tried everything else" and did that.

Three hours later I was still playing, narry a crash in sight even after cranking up the graphics display to max quality.

Life was good. Life was VERY good then. :D

One additional memory, neither good nor bad, just odd: I was fighting Ruby Weapon for the first time. I didn't know it was invulnerable until you were down to one party member. I did know what Lucky Sevens were and had one of my characters (Vincent) in Lucky Seven Mode.

The battle starts, Vincent goes first, steps forward, shoots, does 7777 points of damage (which means nothing because Ruby's Invulnerable), steps back, and because his target isn't dead, he steps forward again, shoots, steps back...

Repeat. A lot. It was classic "unstopable force vs immobile object as the carera did a continuous 360 pan. I thought I broke the game, so naturally I called my best friend and told him what happened. :D

Somewhere after I don't know how many repeptitions, Vincent finally stopped and I promptly got my butt handed to me by Ruby Weapon, but that was okay - I beat it later.

On Mea's note of lucky 7's i have one...

I read about the the 'lucky 7's trick' in which you can easily get lucky 7's through this special trick. Which i for some reason still have memorized after all these years... *cough* when i read him say "my friend told me about how he got lucky 7's during his battle with Emerald Weapon and beat him because of that. I thought to myself that i never got lucky 7's when playing this game..." or something to those lines and i thought 'hey, i never got lucky 7's either!!'. I then picked up my game to continue training in the submarine to get Yuffie's last limit break when suddenly, she gets hit by the enemy and goes into lucky 7's!! MY FIRST TIME WASTED ON A VERY WEAK ENEMY WHO DIED IN ONE HIT OF HER LUCKY 7'S AND ENDED THE BATTLE! And right after i read that... I almost cried...

trying doing that on first disc :p

Worst: Oblivion: My Gray Fox, Grand Champion, Champion of Cyrodill and nearly Archmage character is gone forever because something happened and now it crashes while loading T.T. I HAD 2 HOUSES FILLED WITH FURNITURE!! >.<
I have to start a character all over...that's good because I'll be trying a new class, but it doesn't heal the pain :(

Good: MOHAAS: It was a hard CW, my team had 300 ping min. and I was alone. With a bit of luck and some skill, I managed to beat the WHOLE opposing team ^^.

Best: Killed about 15 soldiers while crashing my plane into the airplane carrier destroying the 2 airplanes that were stopped there at Battlefield :D, that was fun because I got a medal for doing so :P. I also crashed my airplane with another airplane during a flight when i was doing a loop, too bad we were on the same team, that was very funny and I got kicked...

I finally beat that guy. :D (Potions are great, having full life and a potion is even better!) While I'm here, I might as well share some more of my moments.

Best #1: For the longest time, I dreaded doing the "Strange Brothers" hide and seek game on Oracle of Seasons, thinking it would be very difficult. (You have to run from two Subrosians, and make sure they don't see you). When I finally
decided "Just do the darn game", it only took me two tries to get through all five screens. (And the first time, I was only one screen away). You never know what you can do unless you try.

Best #2 (on many occasions, I can't believe I forgot this!): When I was downstate, they had the Legend of Zelda: A Link To The Past, and I practiced for a while, and I managed to get a score of 000 (meaning I never died and never even saved). To top it off, I had all the heart pieces and items (except for the red boomerang).

Fortunately, I have a lot of fond memories. My favorite, though, was when I had several games of TFC in a row where I had more than 120 kills and less than ten losses. It was like a straight week of pure domination, at a time when the game was massively popular.

OF course, it seems that since then I haven't been able to recapture that same glory, but it was nice while it lasted...

Best:
The first time I beat my older sister in MIB Baseball for the NES.
The next day we took turns to play Casltevania (first, agian for NES) and it was the first time either of defeated the game. She started off the final battle, but she quickly tossed me the controller half way threw when almost out of life and I somehow managed to pull threw... it was a kodak moment.

Worse:
Everytime I played Abadox (or Abadox: the inner war) for the NES. I still occasionally torture myself by attempting to play that damn game - I swear, one day I'll make it too level 2!

Best memorys: Playing Red Orchestra when it first came out and killing 20 people without dying and without aiming. Same with Tactical Ops CrossFire and Frag Ops. UT2k4 I managed to take out every node in an onslaught with just a raptor. Winning several SSBM games against my brother and his best friend (Who are like pros) with Kirby, he's my Smash character for ever more...

Worst memorys: Accidently deleting my first ever savefile on FFTA. Completing Pokemon Saphire in 5 hours and thinking "Well that sucked" never being able to find all the chaos in Sonic Advanced 3 and playing rune scape.
