In my opinion, the Johnny template created by Tana is one of the greatest templates to come out of this very website for RMXP. So why isn't it being used in countless projects around the forum? Well, there are two main reasons.

• Tilesets: Johnny is a big lad, there's no denying it and he doesn't really fit very comfortably with the standard RTP graphics.
• Clothing: He's naked! That's right... People are lazy and while it might be easy to create your own main characters for your project on the Johnny template, the daunting prospect of creating a whole cast of NPC's with it are what I believe put people off.

So what is this topic really about? And why do you keep asking annoying questions like this?

This topic has been created to help more people use the Johnny template within there games with you, the kind hearted reader's help.
We want you!!

We here at the foundation for naked Johnny's (the FFNJ)want you to create NPC's with the Johnny template, they can be anything villagers, bandits, wizards, knights, jesters, Futuristic city dwellers, cops, robbers... anything!!

Maybe I', being to optimistic here, and maybe this topic will just drift away into the forgotten pages of the dead posts, but next time you get that creative itch to make a sprite, don't reach for the NPC template!!

I have to say the only reason I don't use the Johnny template a lot more is because there's no version with boobs. I really like it.

There is, but to the best of my knowledge it has only ever been half finished. Maybe if the Give Johnny Clothes Appeal really got going we might inspire Tana to finish the female one off.

i like the template a lot, but the lower part of the legs in the left and right directions look a bit weird to me... (not that I can do any better...)
and the eyes look a bit weird to me too, maybe they're just too clear.
He definitely has some ass though XD

Hehe, am I correct in my memory that you were the person to request this template from Tana in the first place?

I'm not one to really use resources at least for my characters, but I can think of a few reasons people may not like it.
First of all, I'm not really sure what the overall appeal of Johnny is. I can appreciate the shading and, uh... "attention" to anatomy, but he sorta looks like a turtle. He's needlessly stylized. So unless you want that kind of style and it benefits or matches your game's overall art plan, then you could use it, but otherwise, it's a starting point that's far from the norm. Another thing... when chara side views are a 3/4 view, like the case with XPRTP and Johnny, they look AWFUL when animated because the stepping frames are side view.

EDIT: I have updated the first page with the first 2 finished front sprites, Afro's will also go up there once he has finished a front sprite. Both of those are works in progress and and subject to change due to improvements.

I hope to hopefully one day be able to launch a package online with all 150 RTP sprites re-done and with hopefully the same amount of original sprites.

XD That one looks brilliant, but maybe something less bondage? You might want to make his clothes a bit more shaded, though. Again, very good made!

It could use a little more shading especially around the high heels if you are serious about contributing it to the Johnny RTP
