Testing out a new style.

I think the tileset mesh kinda good with ragnarok spites, But the trees and grass don't go to well with the enlarged things from the rtp.

I think the trees look fine... but I don't think the grass really meshes with the sprites. It looks almost like the sprites are floating above the ground.

The sprites pixels are 1x1 but the tileset's pixels are 2x2, in that they've been resized to 400% their original size. The best way to remedy this is to instead of just cut/paste/size the tiles, cut/paste/size, then go over it again, refining the resolution.

The log, flowers, and little sprout are from Mack and Blue's Rm2k/3 tilesets. The bushes and trees are from Suikoden. The grass is Mack and Blue pretty sure, and I think that red berry bush is as well.

wow kool, just browsing, did you make those sprites, there cool ,i wanted to make big ones but it would take some time to make ones for npc etc. way waesome! there fine to me by the way. maybe the characters darker or something so they look l,like in a forest or something. but to me it doesnt matter if it blends or not.

the grass is... hasving a problem the 2 pixels repeating themselves you should tone them down to fit them with the others

How is amalgomating common rips a style? Its crappy, is crappy a style?
Resized will never look good with standard resolution. If you want the tiles to work, instead of being lazy and literally changing their size take the time to edit them directly from their initial size until they work with the standard size rag sprites. Kind of liek the Kaizer RTP, its not resized and fitlered, it was edited to fit the HK size and therefore both has the same resolution, therefore it looked good.

I'd say the newest version with the smaller sprites is probably the most fitting. Granted the sprites are little blurry, but that also makes them fit with the environment much better. And they are much more proportionate to the trees at that size compared to the larger sprites.

My only gripes are that the brown log looks too out of place compared to the greyish tree trunks, and that the red flowers toward the righthand side of the screen are a little too...blobby looking. And I would keep the shadows out, or just play around w/ different style shadows. Overall a very interesting idea.

I like the sprites smaller... the ration of sprite-environment looks better.

The best way I know how to resize an image in photoshop is with these settings :

check - constrain proportion
resample image - with nearest neighbour as option

It should resize the sprite without the unwanted blur effet.
