Teh UK Under Water

The UK's had the worst rainfall in the last 50 years, with 3x the average rainfall in a month happening in just ten days.

I just wondered if anyone here has been affected?

I'm lucky enough to be on high ground and not near a river, but even so my garage flooded to 1 foot of water :(

Pictures from teh BBC:

Glad to see some people care though, as GMTV broke up the news about this with breaking news that Paris fucking Hilton had been freed. Whoopy-do.

I live on top of a hill, so I'm not affected :)

I live on a hill and I was affected, the bottom of the hill was vaguely flooded, so I wasn't allowed to drive to college, I had to catch the bus.

Heh good point, well I don't live near any rivers/canals/water sources, plus there are a lot of drains in my area :p

I have an even better one!

The ace part of this pic is that under that bridge there is a really deep underpass! I believe a van got stuck because he thought the road carried on level and the suddenly was completely underwater! xD heheh.

Aha. Finally got home early this morning. So, I was living in the Whiston village, extremely close to the Ulley reservoir which was in danger of bursting. Essentialy, 3am Tuesday morning, our house door was kicked in to check if we were still around (apparantly we hadn't heard the sirens outside evacuating most people) and we were told that, at that moment in time at least, the dam was going to burst within the next half hour. I've been living at a mate's for the past few days, which has been awesome, but having BBC News on all the time for any signs of news is bloody annoying (Natasha Kaplinsky really does look like a foot, doesn't she).

I managed to get some pictures of the flood itself, Monday afternoon, from down our road:

And here (Seregno, near Milan, Italy) is damnedly HOT.
38? (Celsius) and humidity VERY high (around 75, 80%, I think).

And we are on hills (230 m)...where are gone the fresh summers? :(

To all those americans out there who live bang in the middle of the US where it wont be affected as quickly, global warming will get rid of the Uk islands completely in the next 70 years.

Thats right, we will be affected.

What are you talking about? I never said we wouldn't be affected HOWEVER the north of England and Scotland will be, in comparison to many areas, relatively unscathed. If you look on a flood map, more of the US will survive, but most major US cities WILL be flooded. If they are all lost, the US is in serious danger economically, industrially and internationally.
