Battle System

The game uses the "Flex Range Element Enhanced Linear Motion Battle System" (FR:EE-LMBS), combining aspects of Tales of the Abyss' and Tales of Destiny's battle systems, to create a battle experience comparable to Tales of Innocence's Dimension Stride Linear Motion Battle System.

Story

Long ago, Sylvarant and Tethe'alla were united as a single world that drew strength from the Giant Kharlan Tree. Divine intervention tore them apart, however, and the Tree withered and died. It was eventually left to a boy named Lloyd to restore the world to its true form. At his journey's end, a new Tree was planted to replace the Giant Kharlan Tree and to hold the two worlds together. This is the story of the Journey of Regeneration.

United once more, the world is now entering a new era. However, its people are still faced with many problems. After the lands became one, maps were rendered useless and the climate went through many vast changes: desert towns became frozen wastelands and lakes dried up into valleys. All of this stems from an overlooked factor in the unification of the worlds: the spirit of the old Kharlan Tree, Ratatosk, still exists somewhere, and its slumber has sent the world into chaos.

However, Ratatosk isn't the only problem: tensions are escalating between the people of the two worlds. The citizens of Tethe'alla look down upon the citizens of Sylvarant due to their inferior technology, and the citizens of Sylvarant fear the citizens of Tethe'alla for their power. Two years have passed since the worlds were first merged, and the people of Sylvarant have created an army, known as the Vanguard, with which to rise against the Church of Martel and the people of Tethe'alla.

One day, the Church of Martel goes to war with the Vanguard, and Sylvarant's city of Palmacosta is caught in the crossfire. Countless innocent lives are lost and Palmacosta is consumed in a terrible fire. This event comes to be known as the "Purge of Blood", a massacre allegedly led by Lloyd Irving of the Church of Martel.

After a short amount of years, Emil is now living in Luin above the inn. He is bullied for criticizing Lloyd and helped by Richter. He wanders around until attacked by a bear and Marta saves him. His adventures for the cores begins.

Japanese Relase Date: 16th June 2008 (already out)
North America Relase Date: 1st November 2008
European Relase Date: TBA, Nintendo pressing for a one
Australian Relase Date: TBA

Now now, Namco announced the game for North America, and in the same way they did for Tales of Symphonia for gamecube, Nintendo Power said that that Nintendo is pressing Namco for a European Relase.

I'm European and the Freeloader work no more, so fuck it, waiting for a EU relase.

Tales of Symphonia on Nintendo Gamecube was one of the best game i ever played so meh, gonna buy this one.

I honestly thought Tales of Symphonia had a pretty decent OST, but the plot and dialog were terrible. Plus the ending was REALLY BALLS.

I wont be picking this up unless its really f*cking good (chances are its not).

For some reason the soundtrack for Symphonia reminded me an awful lot of Golden Sun.

I'm excited for this game.  Now I just have to beat the first one.

Of course it does. Motoi Sakuraba composed it and he's a lazy fuck when it comes to symphonic sounding music. Golden Sun had a FAR better soundtrack, however.

LGBT, I think you are a bit negative about symphonia.

I think it was one of the greatest games for the nintendo gamecube. And personally I liked Symphonias soundtrack better, than Golden Suns.

Being from Europe I too can't wait to find out if and when they will publish it here. I will pick it up no matter what

No, he's right, Symphonia was pretty lame. That said, I'll still probably play ToS2 because I'm a fanboy of the series. However, I know that it probably doesn't hold a candle to the Destiny Remake or Rebirth.

lol'd

Tales of symphonia had the worst dialog i'de ever heard in my life. i dont know who sat down after writing it all and said "yes. this is epic shit", but he should never get work as a writer again. it was WAAAY too fucking long. if i've logged in 63 hours, and theres still like 5 places on the worldmap i haven't had to go to yet, something's wrong.
the battle system was fun.. for a little while. after a while the barrage of encounters just got so tiresome that i actually just set everyone to automatic.

also, i'll never forgive the series for killing me with chickens just for wandering SLIGHTLY too far to the wrong side of one of the continents.

O I CANT WAIT FOR TOS2 GUYZ.

I agree. Symphonia was lame. Bad voice acting too. But this new one looks a little better. I'll pick it up. I'm more interested in playing with four people without having my view obstructed.

this opinion sucks donkey balls but beh lmao

anyways for tos being my favourite rpg is my opinion, and i cant wait for this fucking game to come out.

Ah sakuraba is a dumb fuck sometimes he composes great things like SO3 soundrak

ToS was great, and I thought it was a lot better than Legendia and Abyss >_>

What was wrong with the plot? It was generally better than the past 3 or 4 Final Fantasy games.

Sure, Lloyd, Collete and Genis were annoying. But I liked Zelos and Regal. I didn't mind the voice acting either. Villains weren't bad either, although
Mithos going from a kid to a weird monster looking vehicle thing was a WTF moment

And what was wrong with the ending? >_>

There are some games/movies/tv shows that I never understand why people seem to think are like the worst things ever.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to this and Tales of Vesperia.

Well, could we just keep it down a bit? Someone posted some information about a game that will hit the shelves this year and all you guys do is "insult" the first part of said game? I think you guys stated, that you dislike Symphonia. So do you honestly have to come back again just to tell how much it sucked again and again?

I for example don't really get the hype about the FF series. And I don't run around and tell people how much it sucks.

Back to topic. Personally I thought Abyss was a hell lot better than Symphonia. I generally liked its story more, which is the main aspect of a game for me.

I also said to each his own, I respect your opinion :) I just didnt like it as much, Im sorry if I offended you man.

Abyss was a hell of alot better, I agree. The soundtrack in Symphonia was better though.

The ending was all like OMG THE TREE LETS NAME IT and he was
an angel or some shit? I dunno

I dunno, but overall the Tales games are lacking so I really dont care for them as much.

I think it was because he was half-angel or whatever kratos, mithos, e.t.c. are.

And the naming of the tree was a reference to the first Tales of game, I think.

I've always liked the Tales series more than FF, unlike my friend. I mean, to me, the FF series has become 'lulz we gotz cool technologies but we still use swords and spears lulz'

No arguments there. I havent liked FF since IX.

Now dont get me wrong, Im not saying ALL Tales of games are bad. Eternia and Destiny happen to be great games imo.

Ah, yes. The good old name debate... Actually as far as I know the tree is the same tree, as in tales of phantasia which takes place several hunderd years after symphonia, so Lloyd named the tree Yggdrasil. You really only get this if you know Phantasia though...

@LGBT:
Good to know, that you can respect my opinion. I was rather annoyed, when people went "lol" just because I said a game was good. But I accept that you didn't find it good and as I said: Abyss IS better!

i'll definitely pick this game up because a) the characters from ToS were f-ing great, 2) the OST was equally awesome (Flanoir?!  One of the best EVER), and 3) the skit feature was engaging.

The plot in ToS was pretty stupid, though.  I'm also not excited about the new main character design...  seems a little wimpy.
